Hollywood’s finest actresses didn’t come to disappoint at the Oscars 2020 red carpet, closing out awards season with a stylish bang.
For the last time, the stars have aligned as they gathered to recognize only the best of the best in Hollywood. Held at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles ever since 2002, we are overwhelmed once again at the number of guests who made it a point to dress the part, proving that the Academy Award’s red carpet should never be taken lightly.
While it was only expected that the Oscar nominees will be wearing such breathtaking pieces, there were also a few other guests who got in our best-dressed list as they stood out in their exquisite designer creations. From a columnar caped gown to a classic A-line silhouette dress, here are the ten women who shined amongst the everyone.
Saoirse Ronan
Apart from Saoirse Ronan’s raw talent for acting (being the second-youngest performer to ever receive four Oscar nominations), she also has the eye on deciphering what’s aesthetically pleasing to the eyes. Donning a Gucci ensemble complemented by a peplum skirt, she definitely is a tour de force both onscreen and of, proving that refinement and grace knows no age.
Janelle Monaé
Will hoods be a trend this 2020? Well, we still have to wait and see, but we can’t deny the fact that Janelle Monaé’s sparkling silver Ralph Lauren gown punctuated by a hood immediately stunned everyone the moment she arrived. But the best part about her gown was that it’s embellished with 168 thousand Swarovski crystals.
Rooney Mara
While some designers are bidding farewell to the maximum exposure trends from the previous decade, it looks like Rooney Mara begs to differ. She’s proving that you can still wear the romantic macabre trend as she emerged on the red carpet wearing a black Alexander McQueen see-through lace gown.
Renée Zellweger
Renée Zellweger has always favored wearing a sculptural dress in almost all awards night she attends. For her Oscars look however, she opted to keep it clean and chic in an incandescent white sequined venus-cut Armani Privé gown.
Brie Larson
Seems like Captain Marvel has taken the time from saving the universe to attend the Oscars. Now while Brie Larson’s character doesn’t wear a cape, it’s just refreshing to see her don a sparkling gold caped dress by Celine that impeccably complemented her beautiful blonde hair.
Charlize Theron
It’s Charlize Theron, what more can we say? One awards night after another, she never fails to have us all mesmerized with what she’s wearing. While Charlize kept things traditional wearing a black Dior couture gown with a long train, she still elevated it by adding a hint of modernity with its modern neckline that was reminiscent of a swoop of undulating waves.
Scarlett Johansson
The reason why we love Scarlett Johansson so much is that she always makes sure her dress speaks volume of her personality: relaxed, undaunted, and powerful. At the Oscars, she wore an astonishing champagne-hued Oscar de la Renta gown with a liquid skirt and exposed corset.
Florence Pugh
Looks like Florence Pugh is making her mark at the Oscars red carpet. As it’s her first time attending the prestigious awards night, she chose to make a stylish splash wearing a turquoise Louis Vuitton tiered dress.
Cynthia Erivo
Another stunner who’s making her Oscars debut is none other than Cynthia Erivo, who’s nominated for both best actress and best original song. And to cap-off her looks this red carpet season, she wore a futuristic white custom Atelier Versace one-shoulder bustier gown.
Natalie Portman
Natalie Portman made a real statement on the red carpet by honoring snubbed female directors. She donned a breathtaking black and gold Dior Haute Couture ensemble accentuated by a black cape wherein the last names of the female directors were embroidered.
