Over the years, we’ve seen our favorite celebrities take well-deserved breaks, but their comeback becomes totally worth the wait!

Everybody—even celebrities deserve a break. When it comes to the creative field, sometimes, it just takes a getaway to refresh the mind and feel inspired again. Being an artist is no joke and it’s not easy getting the creative juices to flow. When their work is expected to surpass hit after hit, the pressure builds up… and nobody wants to disappoint their fans.
We’re listing down our favorite artists that made a comeback. PS, Rihanna, we’re still waiting for you.
Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift deserves an award for the best character development of the decade. Her comeback album, Lover, paints a realized and self-aware portrait of herself and the things she loves. Pretty much explained in her Netflix documentary, Miss Americana, she finally speaks out for what she believes in and shows her fans that she’s continually trying to educate and grow as an artist and a person. Her heartfelt comeback redeems her as the authentic artist we’ve all come to know and love the first time we heard her song 10 years ago.
Lady Gaga
She didn’t just reshape modern pop culture, she practically invented it. Lady Gaga’s career is truly unrepeatable, and as she marks her musical comeback four years later with her single, Stupid Love, she returns to her roots with the upbeat new track from her forthcoming sixth album, Chromatica.
Selena Gomez
Releasing her comeback album, Rare represents Selena Gomez’s journey of healing and growth. This album is the follow-up to her 2015 album, Revival. During her four-year hiatus, we’ve witnessed Selena overcome physical and mental issues and before releasing her latest album, she released two singles, Look At Her Now, and Lose You To Love Me, which became No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Jonas Brothers
The Jonas Brothers played with our feelings and broke our tween hearts when they split up back in 2009. We thought it was over (even though they’re literally brothers), but when they announced their comeback last year, everyone was celebrating the surprising plot twist. As the JoBros sell out arena tours, their music is now breaking through beyond mere nostalgia.
Demi Lovato
Demi Lovato made headlines after delivering powerful and emotional performance at the 62nd Grammy Awards with her new song, Anyone. The song was written just days before her overdose two years ago. As the conversation about mental health and addiction becomes more transparent, Demi leads the path to end the social stigma against drug addiction. Fans called her performance an ultimate comeback and redemption for the artist. In a moment of true self-realization, she recently shocked us with the recent release of her self-love pop anthem, I Love Me.
Katy Perry
Katy Perry had a low profile for a couple of months, which dedicated fans took notice of. But just days ago, Katy announced her pregnancy with a new music video for her latest song, Never Worn White. On the music video, she was wearing a white gown while clutching her stomach with a baby bump.
The 1975
While some artists are trying to touch on nostalgia with old school jams, The 1975 is bringing a fresh—and totally millennial approach in their latest music video. Playing around the idea of the internet age, the music video for their new song, The Birthday Party, reminds us a little bit of Black Mirror if it was made into a music video. Last 2018, Matty Healy went on a hiatus and checked himself into rehab—while the music video gives us a little glimpse of what must have been going on through his head during that time.
Spice Girls
This is the reunion we didn’t know we needed, but we’re totally here for it! Even though Posh Spice, aka Victoria Beckham, didn’t join the reunion tour, there’s nothing like a good Spice Girls song to get us singing and dancing along. While a complete reunion remains to be a dream for die-hard fans, we hear they’re working on a musical based on their discography of hits. Now, we’d love to Zig-a-zig–ah to that.
Pussycat Dolls
Let’s face it: Nicole Scherzinger carried the whole girl group, so we’re still surprised she can still bust a sexy move whilst carrying Pussycat Dolls on her back. Luckily, we’ll be able to see it up close during their tour in Manila this coming May 9. That is if the COVID-19 hysteria dies down by then.
Justin Bieber
Justin Bieber released his first single, Yummy, after four years. While Yummy is his first solo single in a while, he has collaborated with artists including DJ Khaled and Ed Sheeran, on different records in the last few years. He also released a 10-part documentary on YouTube, talking about his personal life and his new album, Changes.
Dua Lipa
Dua Lipa’s came back last year with style as she cleansed her Instagram feed and posted a single photo of herself looking like a gymnast on a chair with the caption, “Miss me?” Her most recent single, Physical, has already reached 49 Million views on YouTube and we can tell she’s bringing the 80s back. Her highly anticipated new album Future Nostalgia, is due for release on April 3.
