INDIGENOUS PRINTS
Local love took the throne for the night with a bevvy of indigenous prints making their presence known on the runway—Davao’s very own Bamba Limon sent printed dresses and colorful separates paired with traditional woven mules. Bea Abrigo’s designs were irrevocably beach-ready with an added dash of tribal flavor—flared silhouettes, raffia hats, and sarongs made their case for chic tropical wear. Windell Mira went for the clean and crisp route with mesh and netting details with occasional pops of color, including a pair of coated co-ords we’re absolutely obsessed with. Lastly, Edgar Buyan went all out with an homage to indigenous tribes with full graphic prints, almost like an art exhibition with every wear.
BEADWORK
A craft revolution commenced on the catwalk and we’re absolutely here for it. From subtle to dark romance, the beadworked pieces truly encompassed the style spectrum and concluded without a dull moment. Cebu’s Philip Rodriguez went for the understated route with studded mesh garbs juxtaposed with delicate ornamentation and lots of brocade. Marichu Tan transported us to the Garden of Eden with whimsical dresses blended with beaded embroidery. Philipp Tampus’ penchant for structure translated to gothic craftsmanship this time around with a dark palette and artful details that won’t go amiss.
FEATHERS & TASSELS
Tassels were definitely the accessory of the night as the decorative pieces garnished multiple collections as earrings and embellishments. Feathers also stepped to the spotlight to make a statement as exhibited by Jun Escario with coordinates and spangles to romantic color palettes as well as displaying his craftiness with structured tassel tops. Dexter Alazas and Windell Mira added an ornamental touch to casual chic with Alazas’ sparkly ties and tasseled hems to striking traditional wear and Mira’s crisp button downs juxtaposed with two-toned outerwear. Closing the show, Philip Rodriguez took us to a whimsical garden party with fun party hats and tasseled dresses with precise beading—truly a classy statement to make as the sartorial event came to a close.
