Turning 30 is a beautiful milestone. As Sarah Lahbati-Gutierrez put it in MEGA Up Close and Personal, it is a more enlightening experience than turning 20. Now, through her intimate conversations with MEGA, we get a more meaningful look into the multifaceted aspects of Sarah’s life, from being a mom of two boys to being a career woman.

How would you describe an empowered woman?

“An empowered woman is someone who is confident in her own skin. It took me a while, to be honest, to be comfortable in my own skin as a mom who got a bunch of stretch marks,” Sarah shared at first. Adding to that, she answered, “An empowered woman is someone who works hard, wears whatever she wants, is whoever she is, does whatever she wants.”

What is one thing you know now about life you wish you had known earlier?

Answering simply, Sarah said, “I wish I had known that not everyone’s your friend, and keeping a small circle is better than having a bunch of friends.”

How does your definition of love evolve through the years?

“I think my understanding just goes deeper beyond physical attraction, deeper than the surface. And knowing and being able to do and give your best to your partner,” Sarah answered after some thought.

What advice would you give your children about love?

“My advice for Zion and Kai about love is [to] look inwards; to not just look at the physicality of a person, but their personality, their values,” Sarah answered. Thinking of the kinds of questions she’d ask her sons when the time comes, she then said, “How kind are they? Do they know about respect? Are they types of people that like helping each other?”

Where do you want to be in the next five years?

True to her God-fearing personality, Sarah answered, “I do not know what the future holds, but I know that it will be filled with blessings and joy. Of course, there’s always going to be trials—that’s part of life—and continuous growth.”
