Riot Games’ animated series Arcane has just wrapped up and it is absolutely stunning—the art, animation, and even the makeup looks
Three years after the first season was released, Riot Games and Netflix’s most expensive animated series of all time Arcane officially ended, and everyone is raving about how animated the series is—literally and figuratively—from the compelling storyline and the detailed animations to the smallest micro-expressions of each character. Part of its impressive art was the beauty looks in each character, amplifying their personalities through their makeup. Let’s take a look at each character and see which one you can recreate on your own:

Jinx
Crazy, psychotic, and a tinkering genius, Jinx is an artistic mess, but that’s one of the reasons why we love her. Vi’s little sister is mostly associated with the colors blue and pink, but her makeup is mostly dark mauve. To achieve the genius’ looks, the Issy Pressed Shadow in Gypsy is a good base with hints of warmth and brown; then trace your eye shape with the Night shade, smudging it for an undone, casual effect. To add more statement to your look, don’t forget Jinx’s violet accent for the under eye. Paired with GRWM’s Lip Speak in the shade Berry Pepper, your Jinx-inspired makeup is complete.
Powder
If Jinx is not your preferred look, you can try her tamer alternate self with the same bold and vibrant fever—Powder. To get colors as vibrant as Powder’s teenage look, using a white base like GRWM’s new Color Lock Eyeshadow Booster is recommended. As for the actual eye look, use the GRWM Face Card Shadowplay: Colorplay Velvet Mattes—Electric at the inner bottom lid, Cerulean in the inner upper lid, Azure at the rest of the eyelid; finally, top it off with a Mystique Frost Shadow at the center of the top and bottom lid for a beautiful shine. Add some black eyeliner and finish the look with the Maybelline Sensational Cushion Matte Lip Tint in CM16 Mauve Couture.
Vi
Violet is definitely the go-to character for an edgier look, but don’t go too crazy with the black shadow. A little dab of Issy x Slo Lopez Color-Enhancing Eyeshadow Black Base goes a long way, so make sure to blend the base little by little until you get your desired effect. Once dry, blend Issy’s Pressed Matte Shadow in Bordeaux on your lids, bringing the color by your brow bone. Go full on bold and expressive with your eye look with the Maybelline Tattoo Brow in Dark Brown. Finally, finish the look with a dark red lippie like the Vice Cosmetics Soft Veil Tint in Maple Staple.
Caitlyn
As for Commander Caitlyn Kiramman, her style is more minimalistic and natural similar to the clean girl look with a flawless base. Start with Maybelline’s Fit Me Fresh Tint for a skin-like finish with added sun protection from the SPF 50/PA+++. To add structure and definition to your face, apply the GRWM Glam & Go Stix Multiuse Bronzer Stick for some added warmth, and then the Strokes Face Sculpt for dimension. Set your preliminary base with the Absidy Complexion Blur in Petal which also works in brightening your under eyes. Go light with the eyeshadow for a more natural look with Issy’s Pressed Matte Shadow in Clay, applying the brown color all over the lid while diffusing the edges. Next, take a darker shade like Spice and with a flat brush, carefully concentrate the the shadow on the eyelash line to mimic the effect of an eyeliner. Finishing your whole look off, a nude lippie with the Sunnies Face Flullbalm will work like a natural charm.
Mel
Counselor Mel Medarda had a marvelous glow up in the second season—and with great powers came an even greater makeup look. The traces of gold contrast beautifully on her skin, and you can achieve that with GRWM eyeshadow in the shade Carat, and the BLK fresh waterproof gel liner in Gold Beam. Mel’s eye look is playful with different colors at play. To cop this powerful eye glam, a solid base should be your best friend such as the Issy x Slo Lopez Color-Enhancing Eyeshadow in White. To recreate her colorful eye makeup, choose an eyeshadow that comes in a wide range of shades; take GRWM’s eye colors in Jam, Goal-getter, and Tux for Mel’s multidimensional look.
Finally, copy Mel’s dark lippie look by tracing your lips with the MAC lip pencil in the shade Grape Expectations. Apply the rest of the black shade with the MAC silky matte lipstick in the shade Black Caviar. Bring the gold accent in the center by drawing a line using the same BLK fresh waterproof gel liner.
