Between cramming, late-night study sessions, and the pressure to perform, it’s easy to forget to take care of yourself. That’s why we’ve rounded up five fun and easy ways to practice self-care during exam season. So, take a break from your textbooks and give these tips a try.

Dance it out

Turn on your favorite playlist and dance like nobody’s watching. Dancing is a great stress-reliever due to the chemical effect music has to our brains. If you want to get even more scientific, moving in between study sessions can increase productivity through energy bursts.

Take a nap

To put it simply—we all need sleep. It’s no secret that we’ve all skipped turning in early for a full blown all nighter. Sure, you’ll be able to get your work done, but you’ll also be sacrificing all your brain power for D-Day. Set a timer for 20 to 30 minutes and catch some Z’s. You’ll wake up feeling refreshed and ready to tackle your studies.

Treat yo’self

Take a break from your studies and indulge in your favorite treat. Actually, eating while studying can help memory retention. There’s been multiple studies on students having better problem-solving skills, greater fact comprehension, and stronger mental recall when eating nutrient-rich food.

Take a walk

Get outside and enjoy some fresh air. Literally—drop the pen and open a window. It’s easy to get tunnel vision when you’ve set your mind to passing a test. It’s great to be motivated, but stepping away from the workstation can do wonders in reducing stress.

Call a friend

Sometimes, all you need is a pick-me-upper. Who better to give you the right amount of serotonin than your bestie? Pick up the phone and call your girlies and let your frustrations out. You know what they say—friends who suffer together, stay together. Just kidding! Or are we?
