In an exclusive interview with Aaron Mangsat and Ica Villanueva, MEGA Entertainment gets a closer look at the outfits of BGYO and BINI for the ABS-CBN Ball 2023
For P-Pop groups, collaboration does not only take place on stage with the members. From the preparation to their actual performance, working together should always be a part of the agenda. Take it from the looks of BGYO and BINI at the ABS-CBN Ball 2023 to show what we mean.

Last night, the two groups brought out their all-out energy in their respective ensembles courtesy of stylists Aaron Mangsat and Ica Villanueva. In an exclusive interview with the two, MEGA Entertainment discovers how the performers’ standout styles are a product of many hands with a vision to serve looks.
Five in one, one in five
For BGYO, a youthful take to their outfits was the common vision of their stylists. According to Mangsat, he and the boys wanted to keep it classic with a twist. Their way to do it? Incorporating the codes of known fashion houses such as Dior, Versace, Dolce & Gabbana, Dries Van Notten, and Celine to those of Filipino designers. With BGYO representing Filipino talent, they also integrated the country’s own, such as Bon Hansen and Blackcode Manila.“ Fresh, modern, and still cohesive,” the creative described.
The quintet’s Kapitan, Gelo, as well as JL, integrated the harnessed codes into their suits. Meanwhile, Akira and Nate added blinged details to their clean numbers. For Mikki, he donned a deep v-neck with an undone ribbon necktie. With these subtle yet significant details for each of their looks, they kept everything cohesive with their own take to the black tie theme.
Eight ladies serving looks
For Ica Villanueva, BINI’s stylist, it’s honesty from the girl group that contributes to refining their looks. “The members are appreciative of everyone’s contribution to BINI. Styling hardworking, goal-diggers, go-getter dreamers, and passionate young aspiring artists is inspiring. Spending a lot of time around them [and] getting to know their quirks, dreams, and even the little details like what ticks them off help me come up with styles that excite them and make them comfortable to move around.”
For their looks at last night’s event, Jhoanna, Stacey, Maloi, Mikha, Aiah, Colet, Sheena, and Gwen showcased their distinct sartorial choices. Shying away from their unified, group aesthetic, they donned their own attires in different colors. This is a testament that while BINI is one group, they are composed of different individuals as well.
Wrapping up her thoughts on the looks, Villanueva mentioned, “I always see to it that everyone shared their vision for their first ABS-CBN Ball appearance. Then I worked on the details. We collaborated until we came up with their unique classy young look.”
