Here’s how Francine Diaz transformed into a modern Cinderella at this year’s Star Magical Prom
Dreamy, romantic, and sophisticated—these are the words that describe the feminine energy of Francine Diaz. As she graced the Star Magical Prom’s ivory carpet with her on-screen partner Seth Fedelin, one could attest to how she embodied this aura as one of the most-awaited stars of the night. With the magic of fairy tales as this year’s theme, the actress, coming as a modern Cinderella, made sure that her look’s impact stays way past midnight. Styled by sister stylists Kim and Boop Yap, the latter gave us an insider look on the making of Francine’s 2024 Star Magical Prom look.

The modern fairytale dress
When one recalls Disney’s Cinderella, the blue ball gown will always be part of the memory’s magic. As one of the most renowned fairytale classics, the actress’ team decided to take inspiration from the protagonist’s light blue ball gown. Describing the look as “timeless elegance,” the stylist explains their ideas. “We made sure that every decision reflected Francine’s personality and the dreamy, ethereal feel we were aiming for.”
Through the craftsmanship of Filipino designer Anthony Ramirez, Cinderella’s frock had its modern take. Diaz’s gown, this time, had a square neckline and ruffled layers forming the skirt. While still in a delicate, light blue color, more design elements fit a lady in her coming of age— a bodice cut just by the waist hugged Francine’s figure, and a scooped back making a statement as the actress turned around. Adding a touch of glimmer in her whole ensemble were pieces from Mei Jewelry.
“Our mood board combined elements of romance and elegance. We wanted a simple silhouette that is youthful and also complements Francine’s figure. The synergy between us has allowed us to create this look that we really love,” shares Boop.
The making of the ensemble
According to Yap-Tañedo, working with Francine is a balance of their vision and the Star Magic artist’s ideas. “Working with her is always a joy,” she shares. “The best part is her trust in our vision and her willingness to experiment with different styles. Her active involvement in the creative process also adds a personal layer to each look we style.”
From the actress’ birthday shoot to the Star Magical Prom, this is only the start of more collaborations between the actress and her glam team. The stylist notes, “Dressing Francine for these milestones allowed us to explore different facets of her.”
Finally, Francine completed her princess transformation with her beauty look. With the ethereal glow courtesy of RB Chanco and the fringed bun hairstyle from Brent Sales, the actress turned into a princess.
Wearing your own fairytale
Boop concludes the interview with a piece of advice for those who are attending their formal occasion. “Comfort is key. Feeling good in what you wear will naturally enhance your confidence,” she shares. “Don’t be afraid to show the best version of yourself.”
