MEGA’s Best Dressed List at The Opulence Ball 2024

By

Reliving the decadence of the 70s and sharing the theme of The Velvet Underground, the Opulence Ball 2024 by Mond Gutierrez and Ashleigh Rye was a star-studded affair of disco divas

Disco called, and everyone answered. For this year’s Opulence Ball, hosts Mond Gutierrez and Ashleigh Rye took the crowd straight into a glammed-out fantasy of Studio 54 meets the space age. Themed with the Velvet Underground in mind, the night turned into an electric homage to the 70s—complete with Cher lookalikes, futuristic metallics, and enough shimmer to make a disco ball burst. Here’s a look at the guests who served the most over-the-top 70s realness.

Mond Gutierrez

Mond, always the ultimate host, knew exactly what the night called for: metallics that were out of this world. Dressed in a custom Thian Rodriguez ensemble inspired by the mirrored halls of 70s nightlife, Mond shimmered like the after-effects of a full-fledged launch.

Dr. Hayden Kho and Dr. Vicki Belo

The retro power couple took “matchy-matchy” into a high fashion moment with their black-and-white striped ensembles from Balmain, a dizzying tribute to 70s patterns that Andy Warhol would’ve applauded. Hayden rocked a face print on his shirt, while Vicki wore a silver crown—because what’s a disco queen without a little sparkle? With glitter detailing mapped across their faces, they were disco royalty through and through.

Maris Racal

Maris took a page (or strand) from Cher’s book, draping herself in a cascade of silver. From her head to her toes, her ensemble by Russel May Cordero was a rainstorm of glittering threads that would make any disco floor proud. She was Cher in all her glory—mysterious, radiant, and absolutely spellbinding.

Chie Filomeno

What’s better than one Cher? Two! Chie Filomeno also arrived channeling Cher, but this time in her famous silver cut-out gown by Maison Soriano. If you thought one shimmering Cher was enough, think again. Chie’s look was daring, iconic, and glittering with enough charm to leave everyone believing in life after love.

Belle Mariano

Cher struck again, this time in gold. Belle Mariano went all out with a custom dress made by AJ Javier. It had layers of golden sequins and ruffles, taking Cher’s 70s aesthetic into glistening sunshine. Part diva, part golden goddess, Belle sparkled bright, knowing that there’s no such thing as too much Cher.

Donny Pangilinan

Decked out in blue and silver, Donny went full holiday disco fever, a reminder that this season is all about sparkle. Shining embellishments covered him like festive tinsel, transforming him into a gift to the dance floor. Who knew a 70s homage could double as holiday glam?

Milka Romero

in Neric Beltran

Bringing the heat, Milka arrived cloaked in a gown lined with bold orange feathers that flared from sleeves to hem by Neric Beltran. Somewhere between disco inferno and phoenix rising, her look was all about 70s fire. She looked ready to dance until dawn.

Hannah Pangilinan

in Regine Tolentino

Channeling Miley Cyrus’ Grammys 2024 performance, Hannah Pangilinan brought a rock-meets-disco edge to the Opulence Ball. In a nod to ‘Flowers’—the song that earned Miley her first Grammy—Hannah owned the night in a sequined look by Regine Tolentino that was every bit the edgy, glitter-dusted rockstar the night called for.

The Opulence Ball may be over, but the night’s looks live on, showing that nothing says “opulent” quite like a 70s revival with all of modern glam. From Cher tributes to futuristic fantasies, these outfits redefined disco fever and made the Velvet Underground proud.
