In the name of art, travel, and history, Louis Vuitton creates the  Paris 2024 Olympic Torch Trunk and Medal Trays

This fashion feature is an excerpt from MEGA’s August 2024 Issue
When the Paris 2024 Olympic Torch traversed the Greek and Mediterranean landscapes from its lighting in Olympia, birthplace of the ancient Games, to its journey to France, host of the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024, this very torch was housed in its own Louis Vuitton Torch Trunk, designed especially for the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024. The customized Torch Trunk embodies the maison’s 170 years of excellence in the art of travel and partnership with the games.

The Paris 2024 Olympic Torch Relay continued its odyssey on the Champs-Elysées with the official opening of the Torch Trunk by Pierre-Louis Vuitton, representing the sixth generation of the Vuitton family. Tony Estanguet, President of Paris 2024, took the Paris 2024 Olympic Torch from his Louis Vuitton Torch Trunk and handed it to the first torchbearer in Paris, French football star Thierry Henry. The Paris 2024 Olympic Flame also made a stopover at the Fondation Louis Vuitton and the Jardin d’Acclimatation.

Demonstrating the Maison’s commitment to sports and this worldwide event, approximately thirty Louis Vuitton employees relayed the Paris 2024 Olympic Torch as part of the living chain of more than 10,000 torchbearers passing the flame until the start of the Olympic Games Paris 2024.
