Still hesitant to make your first well-deserved big girl purchase? Here’s how Jeanette Ong started her journey in investing in luxury designer items
While it’s rare to see a young adult to start her collection of luxury designer items, it’s not exactly unheard of. Student and content creator Jeanette Ong started her journey of investing in luxury designers at a young age once she could confidently maintain her lifestyle. If you’re also thinking about starting this journey, here is Jeanette’s guide to investing in luxury designer brands:

Jeanette’s Rules
For as long as she could remember, the content creator has always loved fashion. She admitted that many celebrities and influencers have influenced her interest in these luxury brands. “My true interest for designer luxury only really started when I could already maintain a lifestyle of buying these luxury brands,” the young collector said honestly.
Jeanette has three non-negotiable standards: Style, if it matches her personal style; Quality, a no-brainer standard that should last a long time; And wearability, which pertains to how easy it is to wear with the overall look and the durability of it.
Should You Invest?
There’s always a ‘why’ to answer before one starts their investment journey. “Knowing what they want and why they’re investing on would really help,” Ong advised. Ask yourself these questions: Is the desire to invest in these to appreciate the value of these brands? Or is it because you just want to start your luxury designer brand collection?
Being a young student and content creator, she didn’t really need to start her collection. “I wouldn’t say its one of the most important things at my age at the moment because I feel like I could actually invest in better things,” she admitted with a chuckle. Jeanette encourages to be smart about investing, too. “Try to find a balance of investing on luxury brands that you would surely appreciate in value but at the same time you would love and would still fit your personal style,” the content creator added.
Your Turn
It’s intimidating to start, and that’s normal. Jeanette admitted that she, too, is still intimidated to go into these luxury stores. To make yourself feel more at ease, she suggested to bring a friend to not only give you moral support but to also help you in choosing what to purchase. “Something I learned that personally helps me is reminding myself that these luxury brands are just like any other stores you can walk into,” Jeanette shared. “You’re still a customer whether you buy something or not.”
It’s definitely a memorable experience, especially when it’s your first time purchasing your first designer luxury item. Each experience will be different, and Jeanette reminds us all to take our time and enjoy the process. “It’s a big girl purchase, you deserve to enjoy it and be proud of yourself,” the content creator encouraged.
