Whenever there’s a chance to display her skills at school, whether acting, singing, or dancing, Shewarma’s always down to swagger around and make her presence felt. Little did she know that it would become her training ground that paved the way to the beautiful world of drag. “I really like being on the stage! I love seeing the crowd enjoying my performance,” she says with gleaming pride.
When we were under strict lockdown rules, Shewarma got together with her sisters Minty Fresh and O-A and formed SHEMOD. The group adapted to virtual shows, that in turn, helped them sharpen their skills and increase their fanbase.
She describes her drag as “modern and glamorous with a bit of a Middle-eastern vibe with a pure heart of a Filipino.” On the stage, Shewarma serves Broadway musicals with hints of humor or a high-spirited dance piece. Always ravishing and never not entrancing. “Being a drag queen makes me do things that I am passionate about,” she says. “It made me push myself beyond my limits and comfort zone.”
Shewarma cites her family as her inspiration which keeps her motivated to achieve her goals in life. “Also, my fans,” she adds. “They are like my confidence booster, and they are the reason why I enjoy performing on stage. All the compliments that I get from them really drive me to give my best in every show.”
