Got a new lob-length hairdo but struggling to style it every week? These seven Filipino celebrities show us how it’s done
Lobs are all the rage right now, with some of the biggest Filipino celebrities sporting the hairdo all over our Instagram feeds. The distinction between that and a classic bob? Simply put, the lob is longer—hence its name. Lobs typically fall anywhere between the chin and collarbone, so it’s a happy medium for all those who struggle to commit to a shorter haircut or are worried about unflattering face shapes. If you’ve been swayed by this trend but are now panicking about how to style it day-to-day, MEGA has got you covered. Check out how these seven Filipino celebrities get it done below so that you’ve got a week’s worth of styles ready to go!

The wet look
The latest celebrity to cut her hair short, Nadine Lustre debuted her lob this past week, which ends just shy of her shoulders. With the help of celebrity hairstylist Paul Nebres, she’s been donning the ever-famous wet look to her events, and it’s achieved through a healthy application of hair products like gel and glossing serum on blow-dried hair.
The slick back
Not far off from the wet look is the classic slick back, which Anne Curtis opted for earlier this year in New York. Though celebrity hairstyle Raymond Santiago was responsible for this look, you can mimic it at home with a little practice. Using the same process for the wet look, comb your lob back, then lock it in with a good amount of hairspray until you’re satisfied for for long-lasting hold use a hair wax.
The low ponytail
No list of ours would be complete without the style icon herself, Heart Evangelista. Showing us how to elevate our appearance, she put her lob in a low ponytail, cuffed in gold and complemented by the Allira Bobby Pin Set from Jennifer Behr. Accessories add a nice touch to an otherwise simple style, which is especially true in this case as the silk organza pins brought a feminine touch to her slicked back hairdo.

The half-up, half-down
Of course, not every occasion calls for complicated hairstyles or a meticulous application of accessories. You can wind down yet still elevate your overall look by putting ribbons in your hair, as Janella Salvador exhibited. Here, she pulled her hair back with a Dior ribbon, resulting in a simple half-up, half-down hairstyle. You can secure the ribbon to your hair using easy-to-hide pins—or simply use a bow barrette.

The blunt cut
Next up is the blunt cut, straight and without accessories for off-duty days. Elisse Joson wore this style well earlier this year back when she sported a neck-length lob and wispy bangs. You can recreate this look at home, too, using a hair dryer and hair straightener, but don’t forget the hair oil to keep away the frizz all day long.
The shaggy side part
When it comes to present-day examples of a good lob hairdo, who could forget Michelle Dee? She’s been rocking a short haircut since her Miss Universe days, but now that it’s slowly gaining length, she’s been styling her lob-length haircut in a shaggy side part for most of her homecoming events. This particular look is the care of celebrity hairstylist Nelly Seboy, who added light waves to the ends of her hair for a more sophisticated finish.

The textured half-up
Last but not least, take notes on how Sarah Lahbati has been wearing her short new hairdo. In this case, she wears the textured half-up hairstyle well, with its touches of light waves and the addition of blunt bangs. Celebrity hairstylist Jay Aquino is responsible for this particular edit, and you can re-do it at home with a curling iron, bobby pins, and clip-on bangs.
