All About The 52nd Season Of Ballet Philippines On Stream

By

We were one of the lucky few to watch the launch of Ballet Philippines’ 52nd season. Here’s everything we know so far.

With the goal of keeping ballet alive, Ballet Philippines launches their 52nd season online via Zoom—and we were one of the lucky few who got the privilege to watch the launch.

For their 51st season, Ballet Philippines closed with two productions: Dystopian Body and Diyosa, both of which were premiered worldwide. Dystopian Body was created and choreographed by Josh Serafin, focusing on a timely situation—“a place where the body evolved despite an environment where conditions do not provide the most basic needs of its citizens.” Diyosa, on the other hand, was choreographed by Mikhail Martynyuk, Ballet Philippines’ Artistic Director. This production tells a story of the “times when Filipino gods, goddesses, and humans lived together in harmony” until everything changed due to the greed of humans.

Now, to launch their 52nd season, Ballet Philippines aims to continuously pay homage to Philippine culture and Mother Earth. Ballet Philippines President Katherine Liechtenstein even shared that the filming for a new production entitled Tatlong Pag-Ibig ni Jose has just wrapped.

Before the show began, BP President Katherine Liechtenstein shares that at the same time last year, just when lockdowns were implemented, they only had one goal—to keep ballet alive. And now, a year since, not only is ballet and the art of dance more alive than ever, but Ballet Philippines has paved the way by adapting innovative ways and launching Ballet Philippines On Stream.

With everything that Ballet Philippines have showcased so far, we can’t wait for what’s next.
