Are you ready to feel the kilig this 2021? For most of us in the Philippines, K-dramas have been a source of entertainment for the hopeless romantics and brokenhearted for years now. Some would even prefer their Hallyu stars over actual relationships. (I know I would.)

But as most K-drama lovers would know, drama series rarely get a second season. That’s why the Korean entertainment industry makes it a point to create new titles every year for their worldwide fanbase. After months of speculation, we finally have a somewhat of an official list of K-Dramas that will be released in 2021.


Snowdrop
Starring: Jung Hae In and Kim Jisoo
Director: Jo Hyun-Tak
Writer: Yoo Hyun-Mi
Status: In production

Listen in, Blinks. Jisoo Unnie will be starring in her very first K-drama alongside Jung Hae-in. Snowdrop’s plot is based on a historical life memoir of a North Korean prisoner. Many have compared the drama to Crash Landing On You and hope that the series would deliver a realistic interpretation of North and South Korea’s relationship.


Dream
Starring: Park Seo Joon and Lee Ji Eun (IU)
Director: Lee Byeong-Hun
Status: In-production since May 7, 2020

Actress and K-pop idol, IU, will debuting on her first commercial film with Dream alongside her leading man, Park Seo Joon. The K-drama will be centered on Park Seo-Joon’s character who is a professional soccer player on probation. 


Shining Ambition
Starring: Lee Jong Suk and Song Hye-kyo
Screenwriter: Hong sisters
Status: Rumored

If the K-drama reports are true, Shining Ambition will be the ultimate comeback show of actors Lee Jong Suk and Song Hye Kyo. After two years in the military, Lee Jong Suk is ready to deliver his legendary acting skills in a new drama. On the other hand, actress Song Hye Kyo is coming back after taking a three year break since her divorce in 2019.

Starring: Nam Joo Hyuk and Shin Min Ah
Writer: No Hee-Kyung
Status: In-production

Let’s see Nam Do San redeem himself in a new K-drama titled, Here. After a successful run with Start-Up, Nam Too Hyuk is back with a new drama alongside actress Shin Min Ah. Instead of coding for Seo Dal-mi, he’ll be working in an international non-profit organization in this new K-drama.

Are you ready for the best K-drama cast of your lifetime? Well, get ready because Suzy, Gong Yoo, Park Bogum, and Choi Woo Shik are ready to give you Wonderland in 2021. The film is speculated to be a heart-wrenching story about love and loss in a virtual simulation. Additionally, the sci-fi flick has been agreed to be distributed worldwide through Netflix on April.

If you’re a fan of Korean webcomics, then you’re in for a treat. Kim Soong-Nyoong’s popular webcomic, Yukwaehan Yiwoot, will be adapted into a K-drama. The show will star K-drama veterans Lee Byung-Hun, Park Seo-Joon, and Park Bo-Young. Yukwaehan Yiwoot fans can surely expect the drama adaptation to be filled with the same action, intensity, and romance as the webcomic.

Another historically based K-drama takes place in River Where The Moon Rises starring Ji Soo and Kim So Hyun. The drama has already premiered a trailer and is currently looking into February as their official release date. River Where The Moon Rises follows the story of warrior princess with her eyes on the throne.
