Lady Gagita’s Born This Way Ball Show validated her as a legendary symbol in the drag community
Lady Gagita has come a long way since her meteoric rise from doing Lady Gaga parody videos on Youtube in 2010. She’s established herself as one of the most undisputed drag artists in the local scene, inspiring legions more. Labeling someone as an icon these days may not have the weight worthy of its distinction. People toss the word around easily and carelessly. Still, I’ll use it here but with complete thoughtfulness, prudence, and accuracy: Lady Gagita is an icon.

Witnessing her ascent from her roots in Davao to becoming an influential figure makes me an even bigger fan. The heart and blood of her work are in plain view when you watch her perform. It’s where you can see—and feel—the passion for her art in full display. Lady Gagita was born to be the epitome of metamorphosis and mimicry. She’s also set the standard in providing an audience with a spectacular show.
The Drag Den Season 1 alum headlined a show that mirrored Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Ball. As a Lady Gaga fan, having attended that particular tour twice and after seeing hundreds of clips on YouTube, Lady Gagita’s meticulous attention to detail was insane. It extends beyond recreating the setlist, costumes, choreography, and concert spiels, further capturing the spirit of the pop star. The little monster in me was, for lack of a better word, happy.
On top of that, Lady Gagita shared the stage with the Haus of Gagita and some of the illustrious drag queens from Drag Den and Drag Race Philippines. The show not only underscored her position as a premier performer and entertainer but also as a mentor within the drag community.
Precious Paula Nicole was scheduled to perform, but wasn’t feeling well. Since the show was aligned with Gagita’s birthday, the DRPH season 1 winner still showed up to show her love.
