While mascara might seem as one of the products that are easiest to apply, you still could’ve been doing it wrong this whole time. To stop committing the common mistakes, here are the not-so secret mascara tricks according to Gucci and Hannah Locsin.

Filipino pride Hannah Locsin has continuously been on the forefront of the current fashion scene. Flaunting her finesse on the runways of Gucci S/S 2020 last year, Gucci Women’s F/W 2020, and Miu Miu F/W 2020 for Paris Fashion Week, she is definitely on a roll.

And no, she’s not slowing down anytime soon or taking time off as she steps in front of the camera for the luxury fashion brand who seems to be really, truly fond of her. Recently, the Filipina model shocked the local fashion sphere as she was seen on the new Gucci Beauty series with makeup artist Thomas de Kluyver, lecturing us on how to achieve a classic beauty look with the proper application of Gucci Mascara L’Obscur. Under the direction of Max Siedentopf, the Gucci Mascara L’Obscur tutorial played with 50s aesthetic as mirrored on their fashion choices and vintage setting. After achieving the classic look, Hannah and Thomas swerved to teaching how to build a wooden cabinet, which added a hint of humor.

According to Thomas, you must first remove excess mascara from the side and tip of the wand. Before applying mascara on top lashes, apply mascara sparingly to the bottom lashes first. For maximum volume and natural-looking full lashes, you have to hold the wand horizontally and wiggle into the roots. If you’re doing several coats, don’t let the mascara dry in between. Applying on outer corners and longest lashes has to be done vertically this time.

Going the extra, but odd mile, Gucci provided a quirky tutorial on building a wood cabinet if this is something you need some basic knowledge about. A play on the prevalent Stepford housewife aesthetic, but with a more independent, empowered, and don’t-mess-with-me energy, checking out this tutorial with Hannah Locsin is highly advisable. But before anything else, you need to get those lashes done right.
