What else is there that Arci Muñoz/@Ramonathornes can’t do? The multi-hyphenate femme fatale— actress, singer, songwriter, self-confessed ARMY, etc.—earned the rank of sergeant under the Philippine Air Force Reserve Command in 2020. A few days ago, she came back blazing on the runway at one of the biggest fashion events of the year.
Recently, at the LA Fashion Week 2022, Muñoz did an impressive opening salvo for celebrated fashion designers, fellow Filipinos Kenneth Barlis of the renowned reality show Project Runway, and MM Milano’s Chona Bacaoco, who is gaining rave reviews in Europe. The actress also walked the runway for Femgraphy, a fashion brand founded by Carolina Armenta of Mexico.
This was not Muñoz’s first fashion gig this year. In February, the rock-band vocalist graced one of New York Fashion Week’s runways for the Uplive x Hekka collaboration—and belted out Guns ‘N Roses’s “Sweet Child O’ Mine.” Uplive Philippines is a social media platform, while Hekka is an e-commerce brand based in Singapore.
“It kinda took me back to my early modeling days in Manila where I and my sister used to go to workshops,” Muñoz recalls. “Though I was not able to pursue that because I started my acting career.”
She adds, “This experience has been so humbling for me. Back in Manila, we have all the assistance we need, like the glam team. But here, I gotta be really independent. It’s really fulfilling, as well.”
Landing this modeling stint in Los Angeles came unexpectedly: “It started when I got invites to watch the show, and I jokingly asked if I could walk that night. So they asked for my portfolio, and in my surprise, I got callbacks.”
While gushing, Muñoz reveals that she dreams of wearing a Michael Cinco creation someday: “I was able to attend the Michael Cinco show. And everything is just on point.”
Asked what prompted her to attend the LA Fashion Week, she tells us, “One of the main reasons why I walked for LA Fashion Week is to raise awareness in sustainable/conscious fashion. You just have to be creative, and that you don’t need to spend a fortune to look and feel good.”
A mood dresser, Muñoz’s fashion style, like her persona, offers variety: “Sometimes I wanna be girly, but most of the time, I wear hoodies.” In Los Angeles, she was spotted in the audience at Michael Cinco’s show wearing an all-white cropped-jacket-and-tailored-pants combination, bedecked with Louis Vuitton’s Cube Scott Box. “This is just something from my wardrobe,” she said of her outfit. “I believe in re-styling conscious fashion. It’s also one way for me to give back to the community.”
