2003: My First Romance

Their stand-out big screen romance started with a story of young love. It was a two-part movie where Bea and John Lloyd starred alongside John Prats and Heart Evangelista. The former love team’s part is titled “Two Hearts,” wherein John Lloyd played the role of Enzo, an ex-soccer player from school who had undergone heart transplant surgery. This incident leads him to Bianca, portrayed by Bea Alonzo, who happens to be the ex-girlfriend of Enzo’s heart donor. This storyline began the on-screen chemistry between the two actors, which led them to further develop their craft as reel partners.

2007: One More Chance

Directed by award-winning director Cathy Garcia-Molina, this was the movie that birthed the iconic characters of Popoy and Basha. The story revolves around two college lovers who are reaching for their dreams together. This marked the transition of the versatile pair to more mature roles as the movie tackled relationship problems, misunderstandings, and a couple’s ambitions for the future. The movie has crowded social media from then to now, featuring the heartwrenching line exchanges of Popoy and Basha.

2012: The Mistress

Some of the best romantic movies offer a fresh spin on a classic storyline, which can be seen on The Mistress. Long after the blockbuster hit film of John Lloyd and Bea Alonzo, this movie about heartache, betrayal, and forgiveness was released in 2012. John Lloyd and Bea delivered quality performances, along with co-stars Ronaldo Valdez and Carmi Martin.

2015: A Second Chance

In 2015, Bea Alonzo and John Lloyd Cruz have long worked as individual actors in the entertainment industry. That’s why when the production team announced a much-awaited sequel, it undoubtedly belonged in the must-watch lists of fans from different generations. The power love team upped their game in the film’s confrontation scenes as they added new flavors to Popoy and Basha. The evident growth of the pair was seen in the movie because their characters developed as brave souls amidst their relationship’s setbacks.

2021: One True Pair

Following their consecutive network switches, John Lloyd and Bea also starred in a heartwarming short film about Ian and Gela, long-time friends who reconnected through a project. As the 30-minute film progressed, the relationship between the two characters was instantly rekindled. This connection made them realize that despite many changes in their lives, many things in their friendship remain the same—like John Lloyd and Bea’s off-screen relationship.

Based on reports, the actors actively contributed to the short film’s screenplay, proving their unending chemistry even after years of not collaborating on a project. As the iconic pair everyone missed, the “one true pair” or OTP showed both the simple and complex realities of life and love.
