Bela takes another step in her directorial career as she finishes another movie titled If. According to reports, the award-winning actress’s love for the Korean show, Because This Is My First Life, inspired her to create a beautiful film that revolves around the story of an author who is a K-Drama fan.

On Instagram, Bela has already announced the casting of Yoo Min-gon in her film, which was written based on Jung So-min and Lee Min-ki’s drama that cited Doris Lessing’s 1963 short story—To Room Nineteen. In one of her interviews, the actor-turned-director shared that the former tale touched her heart as she saw herself in the character of the homeless writer who seems to not have any space in the world.

Along with Bela Padilla coming on board as If’s director, she also starred in a Korean movie released this year—Ultimate Oppa with Record of Youth’s Kim Gun-woo and Start-Up’s Jasper Cho. The film was created to reach her fellow K-Drama fans, highlighting that their wildest fangirl dreams may come true.

Throughout her career, Bela’s presence is remembered through the well-known ABS-CBN television series Ang Probinsyano, and is famed for her iconic roles in movies such as 100 Tula Para Kay Stella, Luck at First Sight, Felix Manalo, and Camp Sawi. Bela also marked her directorial debut in a film titled 366, where she performed both as the screenwriter and lead star.
