With a decade of being a POND’s beauty ambassador, Heart Evangelista shares a few lessons in the art of glowing skin and how it’s more than just good genes
It was the year 2012. Coral lipsticks were a shade of choice for our puckers. A high bun was a can’t-miss hairstyle. A statement brow was a must-have for every night out. Tuning to YouTube beauty bloggers’ countless tutorials became a pastime and also a source of inspiration. The world of beauty 10 years ago was truly abuzz with cosmetic and style trends that scream unique.
In the midst of the many glamorous movements that we’ve since dipped our toes in, one thing has become a staple since the advent of social media—an infallible skincare routine that entails being consistent and one you have to follow to a T to reduce the signs of aging. True enough, this was also a mantra that beauty brand POND’s and multihyphenate artist Heart Evangelista swear by.
Through an intimate event held in Manila House BGC last February 3, 2023, the beauty besties renewed their partnership once more, marking a decade of a tried-and-true skincare routine that can withstand the test of time.
“I think with everything it’s also prevention and consistency. You really have to live it. If you want it, you really have to be persistent with what you do. From what you eat to how much water you have in a day to the number of hours of sleep—it’s really making time for yourself. I really feel na you have to put yourself first,” shares Evangelista on how she has kept her youthful glow through the years.
A decade of beauty
During the afternoon banquet to celebrate Heart: A Decade with POND’s, friends and colleagues of Unilever Philippines such as GMA Senior Vice President Atty. Annette Gozon-Valdes, Sparkle Assistant Vice President for Talent Management Joy Marcelo, Sparkle Senior Talent Manager Tracy Garcia, and brand ambassador Heart Evangelista herself were treated to a four-course meal by Chef Marc dela Cruz.
To celebrate the success of their partnership, a panel discussion led by host Je Villaroman asked the ever-loyal Evangelista about her beauty journey and how she has reached milestones that many women aspire to achieve. The actress also shared the beauty secrets she’d like fellow Filipinas to embrace, especially as the face of Age Miracle, a line that includes serums and creams to fight the early signs of aging.
“I am not the same but still the same, you know? I’m very very grateful that POND’s trusts me. They know my heart. They know I can handle [various] situations and come out of it with grace,” shares Evangelista.
From practicing being appreciative of what life has to offer to pushing herself to achieve her big dreams, Evangelista believes that the beauty brand has been instrumental in her journey to accepting who she is. “I’m so thankful to POND’s for catching every chapter of my life. It’s such a struggle to fight and break free from the mold that people want you to be in. Going against that doesn’t mean you’re bad. It just means you’re empowered,” says Evangelista on how the beauty brand has trusted her through the years.
Her skincare habit
Now at 37 years old, the social media maven swears by her go-to serum, POND’s Age Miracle Ultimate Youth Essence. Evangelista admits that she uses it as a primer and could go a day without using foundation because of it. Since making her debut as an actress and commercial model, Evangelista has come a long way and shows no sign of slowing down in making her dreams possible. While she admits to feeling the pressure of being beautiful get the best of her in her younger years, the multihyphenate is more confident about herself than ever.
“There’s a certain standard to being beautiful, especially with my work, it’s amplified with looks. Time went by and I realized that my weaknesses were my strengths. It made me different. I learned to be proud of who I am. Everyone’s beautiful and there’s just something about a person that’s genuine. It starts with letting what’s inside your heart come out.”
