For its first runway show, the streetwear brand took the crowd to Charlotte Folk Airport— where comfort and style are no longer mutually exclusive
Travel wear has long been relegated to the backseat as purely practical pieces, but at BYS Fashion Week 2024, Charlotte Folk charted a more stylish route. What once was an empty studio morphed into a bustling airport scene, complete with a statistic carousel paraded by models reminiscent of the stylish travelers who linger on your memory for days. Perplexity fills the air: is this for the stylish or the comfort-driven? Designed for travel or daily wear? Perhaps it’s this very ambiguity that makes the brand work; at the end of the day, Charlotte Folk continues to dress the urban muse, whether 30,000 feet in the air or on the ground.

The collection walks the perfect tightrope between form and function, allowing wearers to indulge in both without compromise. It mirrors the familiar comforts of the classics, such as pullovers, jackets, and loungewear sets, and reimagines them into elevated staples—even tossing a few leather and racer jackets for good measure.
At Charlotte Folk, the categories of menswear and womenswear are more like gentle suggestions. Its recent presentation blurs these boundaries, much like its eponymous designer Jan Charlotte Venzon who embodies this fluidity in her personal style.
As with the rest of the catalog, this collection carried its identity through understated signature labels, stitched or embossed onto each piece, yet they didn’t feel overpowering. There was a quiet confidence to it; bold enough to be seen, subtle enough to let the minimalist designs do the real talking.
It’s easy to get swept away by the production (after all, the pieces are the real stars), But this presentation was different. Maybe it’s the ingenious setup that looked like the baggage claim area of an airport, with models walking around and even atop a full-on carousel, or the way the clothes sparked nomadic tendencies in every viewer. Either way, Charlotte Folk did an impressive job at sending the crowd on a trip without needing to leave their seat.
