Jaz Cerezo’s unveiled “First Light,” a collection that symbolized her new chapter as a designer
On the last day of BYS Fashion Week 2024, designer Jaz Cerezo celebrated her first solo show with elegant draperies, monochromatic sets, shimmering fabrics, and sleek silhouettes. The Centro de Turismo was transformed into a hall draped with fabric that displayed the billowing and structured collection of both womens and menswear. This is Jaz Cerezo’s “First Light.”

MEGA asked the designer the story behind her collection. “At the time BYS Fashion Week informed me that I am going to be part of the show, I was watching Dune 2, and I was asked to present a mood board for them,” she explained “That movie served as an initial inspiration.”
We see this inspiration throughout the collection, not just from the desert-inspired ensembles with flowing silhouettes but also from the strategic cutouts, shiny jackets, and slinky gowns that all have a touch of mystique, a signature trait of any Cerezo piece.
“Meanwhile in the atelier, we were busy making denim looks for one of our biggest clients, Vice Ganda,” Jaz added, which led to her incorporating interesting denim pieces to her collection.
Crafted with so much love and attention to detail, Jaz has created a collection for the feminine and the masculine, for day and night, for dusk until dawn in her femme fatale fashion. Each piece was elegant and eye-catching, a combination of grunge and soft, a contradiction of light and dark.
