Catriona Gray and Pia Wurtzbach Join Forces For the Miss Universe Charity Gala

Catriona Gray and Pia Wurtzbach unite for a fashion charity gala in support of Young Focus and Love Yourself.

When you put together two queens, you instantly get absolute perfection. And thanks to Catriona Gray and Pia Wurtzbach, we got just that as they joined forces at the Miss Universe Charity Gala last June 4. Showing that their beauty is more than skin deep, the two beauties took part to support their chosen charities.  This is with the help of top Filipino designers highlighting the limitless creativity of our artists.

When the two queens emerged on the runway of the Marriott Grand Ballroom, everyone was instantly mesmerized with their beauty. Even if Pia’s reign as the Miss Universe was four years ago already, she still exuded the regality of a true queen. She channeled her winning dress wearing a royal blue gown with crystal embellishments.

Not to be outdone, our reigning Miss Universe also made sure to equally shine on the runway. Catriona looked fierce yet elegant wearing a gold gown punctuated by her signature daring slit. After the two queens graced the catwalk showing their support for their chosen charities, the gala was painted with vibrant colors.

Eight of the top designers in the Philippines created a capsule collection. Each designer created a collection of their queen-worthy outfits according to a specific color scheme. Enter Albert Andrada on tangerine, Rhett Eala with teal blue, Michael Leyva in cyan blue, Ito Curata with freesia, Jot Losa in orchid, Avel Bacudio with kelly green, Cherry Veric in scarlet sage, and Martin Bautista with ultraviolet.

Michael Leyva

Showcasing the splendor of the ocean, Michael Leyva’s collection was filled with flowy dresses, all punctuated by daring slits. But what really stunned us was how he beautifully married metallics (mirroring the glistening sea) and velvets (exhibiting the waves).

Rhett Eala

Proving that every woman has limitless capabilities like the boundless sea, Rhett Eala brought forth a collection all in hues of cyan blue. Each and every dress definitely astonished the audience, thanks to the pleats and fringe, of course.

Cherry Veric

Making us fall in love all over again was none other than Cherry Veric. We cannot help but be filled with awe as the candidates strut the runway. All with the crystals, beaded fringes, and ostrich embellishments that teemed the entire collection.

Ito Curata

Giving us no less than joy and hope that we all need in our lives, Ito Curata presented his take on the serpentinas for his yellow-themed collection. But if you’re looking for his pièce de résistance, it will be his statement ribbons.

Albert Andrada

Albert Andrada truly knows how to make a case for vibrant colors. Having tangerine as the focal color of his collection, he made it a point to make his collection—literally—shine. All five of his figure-forming dresses with thigh-high slits were accented by glitters.

Jot Losa

We all know that every woman is bold and brave enough regardless of the obstacles, and Jot Losa’s collection demonstrated just that en vogue. With all the daring slits and bustier tops, Jot Losa balanced it with a subtle shimmer on all the purple orchid dresses.

Avel Bacudio

Famed for his neoprene creations, Avel Bacudio kept his design aesthetic intact. He impeccably showcased the veracious beauty of a voluptuous body with form-fitting gowns, accentuated by its flouncy shoulders and modern cut-outs.

Martin Bautista

Effortlessly commanding the attention of the crowd on the catwalk was Martin Bautista. The moment his tiered-tulle gowns in A-line silhouette and glittering tight dresses took over the runway, he proved that regardless of the gown’s silhouette, a true Miss Universe Philippines candidate can always stands out.

Edwin Tan

Of course, a fashion gala won’t be complete without the men’s wear. So Edwin Tan opted to teem the runway with dapper suit ensembles. From polka-dots, checks, and beaded embellishments, men can now equally stand out in a sea of stunning women wearing shimmering dresses.

And for the finale, Catriona Gray and Pia Wurtzbach once more walked the runway. Pia wore another royal blue gown punctuated by a huge floral accent. As for Catriona, she kept things simple yet posh wearing a nude-colored gown embellished with crystals.
