Providing the fastest internet speed in the country is definitely something worth celebrating, as these beauty queens, entrepreneurs, and more show at PLDT’s milestone celebration
For a remarkable fifth year in a row, PLDT was vested with the Ookla Speedtest Award for having the fastest internet speed. Luke Deryckx, the Ookla Chief Technology Officer, and Kuljeet Randhawa, the Senior Vice President and Head of Sales, gave this award to PLDT’s President and CEO Alfredo S. Panlilio and other key executives. It was also revealed at this awarding ceremony that PLDT is the only telecommunications company in the Philippines to deliver fiber-optic speeds of up to 10 Gbps. With that, PLDT is second only to Singapore’s ViewQWest in having gotten this award in Southeast Asia.
With the aim to continuously drive innovation and digital transformation for Filipinos, PLDT’s Senior Vice President and Head of Consumer Home Business Jeremiah de la Cruz said customers can expect more great things to come from them. And with five years of excellent service recognized and more years to look forward to, plenty of celebrities, industry experts, and other notable personalities came to celebrate at the awarding ceremony.

PLDT’s May celebration had several Miss Universe Philippines beauty queens in attendance. Specifically, coming to celebrate were Miss Universe Philippines 2019 Gazini Ganados, Miss Universe Philippines 2021 Beatrice Gomez, Miss Universe Philippines 2020 fourth runner-up Billie Hakenson, and Miss Universe Philippines 2022 second runner-up Katrina Llegado. Also in attendance was Miss Globe 2021 Maureen Montagne, while Miss Grand International 2016 first runner-up Nicole Cordoves hosted that evening.
Model, entrepreneur, and PLDT Home ambassador Tweetie de Leon-Gonzalez also came to support the company’s milestone award. “Raising a glass on this special night as Ookla recognizes PLDT for its outstanding performance in delivering superior digital experience and connectivity to every Filipino household,” Tweetie had said.
With her as well was award-winning performer Franco Laurel, who is another long-running PLDT Home subscriber. “What a celebration it truly was last night with the OG gang and the rest of the fam. I am extremely proud to be a part of the PLDT family,” Franco had said of the night.
Many more showbiz and social media personalities came to support PLDT on its big night. Included in this long list of attendees were Eric “Eruption” Tai, Dianne Medina, Roxanne Montealegre, Jarius Aquino, Aiyana Perlas, Kayla Javier, Andrea Angeles, Een Mercado, and Samm Alvero. P-pop idol FANA also made an appearance and performed some songs for the crowd.
“Happy to have been part of this event,” FANA said. Continuing, she mentioned, “Congrats to PLDT for being the undisputed fastest internet in the Philippines for 5 years in a row as awarded by Ookla!”
