During these times of uncertainty and crisis, it’s the simple acts of bayanihan that keep us afloat. Though we’re all going through the same thing, these celebs have taken it upon themselves to utilize their privilege and resources in giving and aiding donations.
Check out these celebs who’ve funded and started worthy causes amid the pandemic.
Angel Locsin
The real-life Darna has been a consistent humanitarian during these times. She’s 1.) raised over P11 million during her 35th birthday last year. 2.) Revived the Shop and Share initiative that has raised over P6 million from auctioned celebrity goods, And 3.) Highlighted the Aktor PH initiative to give donations for those affected by Typhoon Ulysses in November.
Though her recent efforts haven’t been perfect, Angel’s philanthropy can’t be denied.
Anne Curtis
Even when she was in Melbourne during her pregnancy, Anne paid it forward by leading initiatives that sought to aid frontliners and provide COVID-19 tests for the less fortunate.
Alongside Angel, Angel initiated the Shop & Share project that raised over P6 million, with Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto thanking the two actresses for donating P1 million to the city without media coverage and “fanfare.”
Maine Mendoza
Back when the enhanced community quarantine (of 2020) were in full swing, Maine started the DoNation Drive to give financial support for families that didn’t have any income from to the lockdowns.
Seven days into the launch, Maine and her team had accumulated over P587,677.92.
Maris Racal
During the first leg of the pandemic, Maris managed to raise over P600,000 for Tagum City frontliners.
She also donated clothes to Angel’s Shop and Share drive and called for responsible leadership during these times.
Catriona Gray
Proving that she’s indeed a queen to all, Catriona has helmed a feeding program for 1,000 families in Tondo, Manila during the first leg of the pandemic. She also donated her famed Miss Universe candidate pin to the tune of P250,000 for the the Shop & Share cause as well.
She’s also advocated for blood giving amid the pandemic, and donated 50 bikes to Gretchen Ho’s Women in Action Initiative to help workers in need of transport.
