MEGA flies to Hong Kong to discover Hermès Beauty’s latest offering ranging from eye and lip pencils, eyeliners and accessories

This is an excerpt from MEGA December 2024 – January 2025 beauty feature.

“When we apply color to our faces — to the eyes or anywhere else — we are, above all, accepting an invitation to show our feelings, our state of mind and especially our emotions,” shared Gregoris Pyrpylis, Creative Director of Hermès Beauty. This statement set the stage for the house’s regional presentation, which was held at the Hermès boutique in Landmark Hongkong last Oct 22, 2024.

Upon entering the event, we were welcomed by an array of beautifully colored pencils, liners, and tools for the eyes and lips, featuring recognizable Hermès codes one can’t surely miss. For one, the use of vivid shades—a DNA of the brand was championed. A rainbow of blue, green, orange pencils, as well as every color imaginable was in full display to be enjoyed not only visually but experienced tactilely.

As we swatched and tried the liners, off-the-bat one realizes the pigments visibly reflect as they touch the skin. The easy glideable, water- resistant feature also makes it perfect for sensitive eyes and the formula’s rich, creamy texture delivers a non- greasy finish for an even, buildable finish. The pencils’ silky-soft tip is perfect for drawing either lines or blocks of color that come in either matte or iridescent — depending on the shade.

“The Hermès color palette is boundless, offering variations that extend to the very limits of the visible” is how Pierre-Alexis Dumas Artistic Director of Hermès, described the collection. More importantly, we discover that it was crafted to mimic an artist’s palette and puts the spotlight on one of the house’s pillars: color. Case in point—the offering is a kaleidoscope of forty shades for the eyes and lips in the form of pencils made from sustainable wood, and designed with a golden metal cap engraved with an H by Pierre Hardy.
