A tragic loss, well-known AZ Factory designer Alber Elbaz has passed away at the age of 59, Richemont confirmed.
Having transformed Lanvin into a major label, the renowned Israeli-French fashion designer was best known for his work at the French fashion house between 2001 to 2015. With collaborations with different labels such as H&M and TOD’S, Elbaz has cemented himself in the fashion industry as one of its most sought after designers.
After leaving Lanvin in 2015, Elbaz took a 5-year hiatus before launching AZ Factory, his new label, just early this year under fashion conglomerate Richemont.
“Alber had a richly deserved reputation as one of the industry’s brightest and most beloved figures. I was always taken by his intelligence, sensitivity, generosity and unbridled creativity. He was a man of exceptional warmth and talent, and his singular vision, sense of beauty and empathy leave an indelible impression.” Johann Rupert, Richemont founder and chairman has said in a statement shared on the 25th of April, the day after Alber Elbaz’s untimely death.
His cause of death is still not confirmed.
