The “King of the Gil” gets mistaken as a porn star in an “irreverent comedy” coming out this year
After welcoming a new chapter with ABS-CBN this April, Enrique Gil finally announced yesterday his official movie comeback with the network. In his “New Movie Alert,” Quen goes funnier and wilder with I Am Not Big Bird.

The movie, to be directed by Patay Na Si Hesus (2016) filmmaker Victor Villanueva, is a collaboration between ANIMA Studios, Black Sheep Productions, Epicmedia, and Make-a-Break Productions.
Palanca Awardee for Best Screenplay Lilit Reyes centers the story on a man who gets mistaken for “Big Bird,” a famous porn star in Thailand. Actors Nikko Natividad, Red Ollero, and Pepe Herrera will join the actor in their so-called wild adventures.
During the press conference, ABS-CBN Films Head and Managing Director Kriz Gazmen shared, with a laugh, that they initially didn’t know why this was Enrique’s film choice for his newest project. “Enrique wants something groundbreaking and new. He’s very conscious,” he explained. “Hindi natin alam kung ba’t gusto niya ‘yung ‘Big Bird!” But really, it’s a groundbreaking story because aside from lahat ng katatawanan, what I like was it’s actually a story of a boy turning into a man. More like a coming-of-age story pero medyo nadelay lang.”
Meanwhile, Bianca Balbuena-Liew, ANIMA’s Head of Studios and Managing Director, mentioned that after the local cinema screening of I Am Not Big Bird, they will also be submitting it to international genre festivals next year.
Enrique, who is now stepping up as a producer with his own company, Make-a-Break Productions, shared his reason behind this new venture. In an interview with TV Patrol, he pointed out, “I wanna leave a legacy, somewhat. I wanna create this production company and focus on creating projects that can sana breakthrough internationally and [in] streaming platforms. Just to put the Philippines out there, stories that we can tell [that are] very Filipino.”
