Mario Dumaual worked in the entertainment industry for more than 30 years as one of the Philippine media’s most trusted and acclaimed reporters
The showbiz industry is grieving the passing of one of entertainment’s pillars, Mario Dumaual. Earlier today, the family of the late journalist confirmed his passing at 8:01 a.m. According to the post, he died due to septic shock, a complication from his heart attack a month ago. Until his passing, Dumaual was in the Intensive Care Unit of Philippine Heart Center for close monitoring after a heart attack last June 5.
According to their family’s statement, “What comforts us is he knew that we were always with him, waiting for him, and that home was wherever he felt our love. We also made it a point to let him know how loved he was by his friends in the industry and even kind strangers who have been offering prayers and help for his recovery.”
Unbeknownst to many, Dumaual’s writing career started in the Ministry of Agriculture after graduating from college. His show business trajectory started in 1982 with Times Journal, followed by working for ABS-CBN’s News Department in 1987.
Known for giving exclusive interviews and most anticipated revelations from celebrities, Dumaual received the Joe Quirino Award at the 5th EDDYS Awards. Last January, he was among the individuals the Eastwood City Walk of Fame conferred their iconic brass stars.
Mario Dumaual will always be remembered for being one of the most prolific and hard working journalists not just in entertainment, but in the field of journalism as a whole. More than his contribution to the industry, he is also a good husband, father, and grandfather to his family and a respectable friend to his peers.
MEGA Entertainment sends its condolences to the family and friends of Mario Dumaual.
