Everything To Know About Longchamp’s Collaboration With Emotionally Unavailable (EU)

Another collaboration from the French luxury label, the Longchamp x EU collection is inspired by boxing and heartbreak.

With collaborations becoming a norm in the fashion industry, both fast-fashion and luxury brands alike are now launching collaborations left and right. But long before this was deemed cool, Longchamp has been collaborating with different artists and designers who pushed the brand out of its comfort zone.

From partnering with designer Jeremy Scott to releasing a collection with Pokémon, Longchamp has undoubtedly launched iconic collaborations. And the latest to be added to this list of partnerships is label Emotionally Unavailable (EU), a contemporary streetwear brand founded by Edison Chen and Kybum Lee.

For the Longchamp x Emotionally Unavailable collaboration, founders Chen and Lee were inspired by Longchamp’s iconic Le Plaige. With this, they came up with the line “Been a CHAMP a LONG time”, a play on the brand Longchamp’s name. This line, according to the duo, is inspired by the “mindset of a champion boxer, who fights even when he’s down.” According to a press release.

This seemingly boxing-inspired collection is much more than what it seems. With products such as Longchamp’s Le Pliage emblazoned with the tagline, as well as the words “Professional Heartbreaker”—a nod to EU’s broken heart logo, the collection dives deeper into heartbreaks. “We’re not trying to do a boxing-inspired collection. We’re talking about heartbreak, deep love and self-strength. These taglines come out because we’re all in this constant struggle of relationships and feelings–not only in love, but with our siblings, our parents, our co-workers. It’s this thing everyone goes through,” Edison Chen shares in a press release.

Alongside the Le Pliage bags, the collaboration also extends to ready-to-wear athleisure. From wardrobe staples like a grey-marl hoodie, black sweatshirt, and black and white tees, to two unisex pieces like black satin shorts and a matching kimono with a white tie belt—both of which was inspired by the boxing ring.

“For me, in a collaboration, what is very important is to keep both identities. I think what is very successful in this collaboration, and in the products we made together, is that you can feel the authenticity and the know-how of Longchamp, and you can feel the energy and power of Emotionally Unavailable.” shares Sophie Delafontaine, Longchamp’s Creative Director.
