After recently firing up social media with her rad style in Italy, we now get a closer glimpse at Iza Calzado’s first-ever Milan Fashion Week.
It’s truly a breathtaking experience when you arrive at one of the fashion capitals in the world. For all its flair and flourish, one can’t deny the fact that it’s also a whole new world when you fly there to see the exclusive shows yourself. And one of the many who’s fortunate enough to experience for the first time this season was our MEGA Weddings cover star, Iza Calzado.
Back in 2014, the style star had a film titled, Milan. Although this may be, Iza recently admitted on her Instagram post that she has never been to the ever-fashionable city. That’s because all her scenes in the movie were only shot indoors. So, ever since she shot her film, “I have been meaning to make my way to Milan one day. [It’s] because my very first film was titled ‘Milan’ but my scenes were shot in Mariposa, Cubao,” she shares with MEGA.
Then when she was finally advised a week before flying out, Iza gushed that she “was excited and honestly very nervous since there was hardly any time to prepare—especially as we were all busy with the ABS-CBN Ball.”
But even if they were pressed for time to prepare all the clothes, Iza together with her stylist, Kat Cruz, remarkably worked with what they could bring. So, when it came to her looks, Iza shares she would wear clothes that will “match the feel of the brand or ideally wear something from the brand.”
Attending The Shows
When Milan Fashion Week finally commenced, she made it a point to strut the streets in full-on style and sass. Kicking-off the week-long fashionable fete, Iza donned a red crushed velvet power suit number by Neric Beltran as she attended Furla’s runway show, followed by the Prada show.
According to Iza, she wasn’t even supposed to attend Prada. But thanks to Dra. Vicki Belo and Hayden Kho, they were able to get her into the show. “I am so lucky to have experienced Milan Fashion Week with them,” she adds. “They were incredibly generous and took great care of me all throughout our trip and really made me feel like I am part of their family.”
And if getting her to the Prada show wasn’t enough, the lovely couple also paved the way for her to experience the Louis Vuitton Time Capsule dinner in Milan. It was “through the graciousness of Doc Hayden who gave up his seat, so I can go with Dra. Vicki instead,” she says.
In addition, Iza shared via Instagram post that “since it was last minute, I had not had a single LV item with me. [But] it’s customary to attend at least wearing or carrying a piece.” Eventually, the duo gifted her with a bag of her choice that would impeccably complement her outfit. Hence, she chose a Louis Vuitton Petite Malle—a bag she admitted that she always wanted but couldn’t justify buying.
For her last stop, she attended the launch of the all-new Tod’s store in a light gray shirt dress teamed with an orange belt bag as a pop of color. She met with the Tod’s Hong Kong team led by their country head, Massimo Caltagirone, courtesy of Stores Specialist Inc.
A Dream Fulfilled
“I never even imagined nor dreamed about going to Fashion Week when I was younger,” Iza tells MEGA. “To be honest, when I was growing up I didn’t even know there was such a thing! I think the awareness came about when I was already in show business, especially when social media came along.”
However, because of her first film, she easily fell in love with the resplendence of Milan. And while she admits that it was not a childhood dream, attending Milan Fashion Week still feels like “a dream come true for any person who likes or appreciates fashion.”
Iza actually had a fan girl moment once she saw Nicole Kidman and met Pernille Teisbaek at the Prada show as well as Scott Schuman while walking on Via Monte Napoleone. She was also surprised that there were lovely Pinoys who actually waited for her outside Prada. “I got to meet all the amazing Filipinos in Milan! Some screamed my name when I went out. Kilig ako dun. Mabuhay kayo!” the beauty reminisces.
All in all, the style star’s first-ever Milan Fashion Week was surely for the books. “Since this was my very first fashion week experience, I feel like I learned a lot and know that next time will be even better,” she ends.
