EXCLUSIVE: Anne Curtis Returns to Acting After Five Years

By

Anne Curtis finally completes her comeback list this year with her return to her first passion—acting

By now, acting is already etched in Anne Curtis’s life that even her offspring is a testament to her decades-long career. Dahlia, her daughter, is the namesake of her first role in the 1997 film, Magic Kingdom: Ang Alamat ng Damortis. When she came back to the Philippines after the pandemic and a full-time mother role, she returned to her multi-hyphenate status. Concert and hosting, done. But acting? It’s the last, definitely not the least, in her comeback checklist.

Busting back into the craft

“I’m so nervous,” Anne admits. “But I’m just so happy to be entering the world of acting again. It is really one of my first passions, so I’m excited to be able to touch base with that.”

As of writing, the 39-year-old has begun shooting Buy Bust 2, the sequel of Erik Matti’s 2018 film. “Manila at night. And so it begins. Back to filming after [five] years,” the actress wrote in the caption, sharing a few photos of their behind-the-scenes.

Fit for the lifestyle

Being active is no longer new to Anne, with this as a prelude to the action scenes she needs for the movie. This time, she is studying a knife-fighting art system called Sayoc Kali. On regular days, she runs, walks, and lifts weights.

In the list of her daily to-do’s which include her personal and professional duties, the Viva artist emphasizes consistent effort and proper rest. “Just find the time, but also know when you’re tired. Even if it’s just a 20-minute walk, that’s enough,” she says.

The secret to her longevity

Her audience has seen Anne in different phases of her life—a pre-teen princess, an experimental teen, an it-girl in the making young adult, a chic woman, an established wife and mother. How come she never stops?

“Staying passionate is the key,” Anne says firmly. “If that fire burns out, I think that will show in your work, or whatever that is you’re juggling at that time. If you need time to rest, you have to take it so you don’t burn out.”

Fully welcoming acting back into her schedule, she has high hopes of working with a number of stars. In her head, they’re all lined up after her upcoming series with Joshua Garcia, the Philippine adaptation of the Korean drama It’s Okay Not to be Okay

“I’d like to work with Dong [Dantes] again, because we worked on Sid and Aya before. Be reunited with Bea [Alonzo]. Most importantly, my sister. I’d love to work with Marian, and Dennis again also!”
