In an exclusive interview with MEGA Man, stylist John Lozano, who is currently accompanying Reid on his journey, gives the lowdown on every aspect of the actor’s newest fashion venture. Lozano shares that they couldn’t hide their joy when they heard the news, uttering a straightforward yet heartfelt remark: “It’s finally happening.” Little did they anticipate the pleasant surprise of multiple invitations bestowed upon the Filipino celebrity during his first international fashion week engagement. The stylist mentions that they also found themselves overwhelmed, noting that Reid wasn’t just on the guest list; he was a VIP, earning admiration from international brands. The visual proof came in the form of shared photos on their respective accounts, each capturing the actor in a prominent and influential fashion context.
The style vision
Over time, Lozano and Reid’s tandem has consistently demonstrated their knack for delivering standout and unforgettable looks, which makes this global chance a thrilling stage to flaunt their prowess. Discussing their approach to Milan Fashion Week, the stylist clarifies that his involvement leaned more towards ensuring alignment with the actor’s distinct branding and style than an extensive hands-on curation of looks, as the responsibility for that rested primarily with the participating brands.
The looks
During the Fendi fashion showcase, the actor opted for a sharp appearance, donning a wool monogram hooded trench that, interestingly, boasted reversibility, coupled with an inner button-down shirt in wool that also offered a reversible twist. Adding a touch of chic refinement to the ensemble, the stylist highlights their choice of accessories, settling on a pair of shades and a pearl necklace.
Making his second appearance, Reid exuded a sleek black style at the Emporio Armani FW24 presentation. Choosing a black robe kimono, he paired it effortlessly with a vest and wide-leg trousers. Lozano explains their decision to honor the brand’s distinctive minimal and clean aesthetic, emphasizing a restrained approach in styling, punctuated only by the addition of a snake ear cuff to introduce a touch of edginess.
Finally, at Tod’s, Lozano simplifies their approach, expressing a clear objective: maintain a preppy and dapper look. Reid effortlessly embodies this aesthetic, clad in a nylon hooded and cropped pale blue jacket, paired with gray trousers and loafers. In line with their commitment to displaying the actor’s authentic style, the stylist reveals that the addition of sunglasses was a deliberate choice, contributing an extra touch of “James Reid” to the overall look.
The overall experience
Addressing the hustle of fashion week, Lozano acknowledges the inherent chaos and hectic pace associated with jam-packed schedules. However, the stylist expresses genuine joy, characterizing the experience as a thoroughly pleasurable start. “For sure, it has been a fun trip for us, not just work. We got to bond and [get to] know each other better in the process. We made it a point to enjoy the experience more than anything,” he shares.
The next fashion adventure
The stylist hopes that the actor’s first dabble in the international fashion scene is just the start of many stylish adventures. “We have discussed before that this is just really to get his feet wet and experience fashion week for the first time. So far, we have been enjoying every moment, so expect us to do this more in the coming fashion week seasons, if given the opportunity,” Lozano expresses.
