Love is a many-splendored thing in one’s journey—especially those of the platonic kind. MEGA’s August cover star Kyline Alcantara reflects on her friendships and what it means to be a girls’ girl
Celebrities and public figures have demanding schedules and face an enormous amount of pressure being in the spotlight. Thankfully, they can turn to their fellow famous friends when the going gets tough—such is the case for Kyline Alcantara.

While she stands as a formidable presence on her own, behind the cameras, she recognizes that there is something powerful about belonging to beautiful friendships in the career industry she is in. Her well-documented bonds with A-listers Sarah Lahbati, Heart Evangelista, and Bea Alonzo serve as a great reminder that friendships bolster our sense of self, and significantly influence our personal growth and journey.
In that manner, Kyline reveals to MEGA that her friendships with the three women are not for show business—they’re real relationships she takes care of. Her connection with Sarah Lahbati, in particular, is the picture of sisterhood. “We became close because of our experiences in life and…some other things,” she laughs with a knowing look in her eyes. “We’re just the typical ate and baby sister story; we’re just simply like that—pinapagalitan niya ako minsan, pinapagalitan ko rin siya minsan. Walang kaplastikan, and we keep everything real.”
The love shared between the two is evident—aside from shared experiences in show business, they support each other in their creative and personal endeavors: they went to a dance class together, were out swimming, and are now both MEGA cover stars.
Last April, the star was seen on a Sunday girls’ night out with her celebrity friends at Apotheka, dancing and having fun. Fondly recalling the memory, she tells MEGA, “I was only supposed to go to Ate Sarah’s place and play some cards and just chill. Then all of a sudden everyone wanted to go out and I didn’t want to—it was a Sunday!”
Eventually, Kyline continues, she said yes, leading the four to transform into dancing queens for the night as the song Dancing Queen by ABBA played. Expounding on her relationship with Heart, Bea, and Sarah, being the youngest of the bunch, she explains, “I take care of my relationship with them because I aspire to be them. They’re all of my inspirations; they’re confident, they’re empowered, and they know what they want. They’re adamant women—unshakeable—so they know who they are. They’re my ates, so I just love them and they’re beautiful people.”
Her genuine relationships with these celebrities indicate Kyline’s commitment to being “real” and “authentic” with how she presents herself to the world. As a Gen Z leading lady, she stresses how important it is to set boundaries from her personal and online self, but still being genuine: “I’m at the point where I don’t owe anyone anything. I know my limitations, I feel so empowered right now because I have control over what I share publicly. I’m still real, everything that I post is real, authentic, genuine, but now I don’t share all of it. And that’s my choice.”
When it comes to these personal life lessons, she definitely has three ates to look up to and support—the same way they do her.
