Dance princess, Maja Salvador, is in a forever love team with her dog, Duke. We catch up with her on life as a dog mama in this exclusive interview.

There is nothing that can warm a dog lover’s heart more than the welcoming embrace of their loving pup once they arrive home. One dog mama who can relate to this is actress, entrepreneur, performer, and producer, Maja Salvador. She’s been a dog mama to her loving half-bichon frise and half-pomeranian pupper, Duke, for a year now and we want all the details. The dance princess constantly posts about Duke on her socials, especially on her Instagram account.
More than being Maja’s pet, Duke has become an online sensation. He has even turned into a celebrity in his own right. The cute doggo has reached over 39,000 likes in one Instagram post alone. He has even gotten himself into various photo shoots and brand endorsements with Maja. We’re officially naming this dynamic duo as the forever love team in our hearts. MEGA: When did you start being a dog mom to Duke? What’s your meet-cute story?
Maja: Si Ate Dens Ochoa told me na bibigyan niya ako ng dog. Kaya si Duke ay gift ni Ate Dens. On January 14, 2021, I went to the house of Ate Denise and Kuya Dom Ochoa to get Duke. He was 2 months old na and pagkakita ko sa kanya na in love ako kasi ang sweet na niya agad sa akin. Sabi ko, “Hi! I’m your new Mama.” And then, parang nag-hug siya tapos napa-I love you na ako sa kanya.
MEGA: What is your favorite quirk of Duke?
Maja: ‘Yung ‘pag ‘di siya pinapansin parang may sound siya na ginagawa na mukhang nagsusumbong na paiyak. Super lambing as in.
MEGA: When you’re away during taping, how do you stay connected to Duke?
Maja: Video call. Always. Or, sa CCTV tinatawag ko name niya, tapos akala niya dumating na ako. Tapos, ‘pag ‘di niya ako makita, he will go up to check kung nasa room ako.
MEGA: Where are your favorite places to hang out with Duke?
Maja: At home lang at ‘pag nasa bed na siksik talaga siya sa akin.
MEGA: If Duke could talk, what do you think he would say to you?
Maja: I love you so much, Mama! Thank you for always spoiling me. No blower, please. Arf! Arf!
