Experience the Chill of Antarctica with an Ice-Cold Bottle of Shackleton Whisky

By

A smooth, aromatic glass of whisky is the perfect way to cap off a hectic week. But how would you feel about taking things to another level with a bottle of whisky straight from the cold depths of Antarctica? You can now experience the rich and icy taste of the South Pole region with Shackleton Blended Malt Scotch Whisky right here in the metro.

Starting the history of this legendary drink is British explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton. As the first ever man who went to an expedition to the South Pole in 1907, he had brought with him crates of Mackinlay’s Rare Old Highland Malt Whisky. But upon facing bitter winds and total darkness, he and his team had to abandon their quest, leaving behind their precious liquor.

A century later, 11 of these bottles were unearthed from Sir Ernest’s hut in Antarctica, perfectly preserved in ice. From this discovery, the masterpiece of Shackleton Blended Malt Scotch Whisky was born.

Shackleton is bottled today, but it is based on the whisky that Whyte and Mackay’s Mackinlay distillery produced a century ago. Crafted from over 20 of the finest highland malts, the whisky is characterized by smoothness unlike any other. The rich and robust whisky offers notes of vanilla, honey, ginger, and liquorice, with a hint of bonfire smoke.

This legendary liquor was finally brought to Philippine shores for Filipinos to explore for the first time. Setting up the ice-cold temperatures of Antarctica to enjoy the whisky at its best, a roving ice bar has stopped by Landers Arcovia to let people enjoy Shackleton Blended Malt Scotch Whisky the way Sir Ernest and his men did in 1907.

“We are bringing the Antarctic experience closer to whisky aficionados with our Shackleton ice truck beginning here at Landers Arcovia in Pasig City. Through this, we will be giving an interactive tasting experience where the flavor notes of our blended malt will come to life,” says Pia Bonalos-Mercado, brand manager for Shackleton Blended Malt Scotch Whisky.

Inside the roving truck, temperatures went as low as -15 degrees Celsius to give guests the immersive experience of trying out the blended malt whisky in its natural belonging. Visitors learned about the unique history of Shackleton Blended Malt Scotch Whisky through a thrilling lights and sound show.

For a century-old liquor, Shackleton proves that some things just get better with age. Catch the roving ice truck at its next stop and get a taste of cool Antarctic whisky at its finest. Watch out for Shackleton’s mobile Antarctica in Landers Arcovia, Landers Alabang, Landers Otis, Landers Balintawak, Landers Cebu, Uptown Parade and Eastwood City.
