Oh, what a time it is to be a woman. Far from hitting an equilibrium in society, there have been great strides made in leveling the field, according the women to dream more and more importantly, do the most, societal archetypes be damned.  Needless to say, there are a lot of reasons to celebrate women’s month, but instead of going through the many ways why they run the world, a group of creative pundits came together to focus on how they are inspired by them. Through the Institute of Creative Entrepreneurship (ICEFAD), an exhibit was mounted to empower women from all walks of life, realized in conceptual photography and of-the-moment fashion, of course.

Baptized, Inspire | Women, the visual series follows sixteen women, exemplary and inspiring in their own rights and fields, evoking power, poise, and a brimming of passion for life and living. Each treated to their own fashionable moment, with a restrained sprucing of florals tying the whole narrative together, the photos were a clear peek at the lives of these women blazing their own trails. Lensed by fashion photographer and ICEFAD course specialist, Rxandy Capinpin, the exhibit also marked his eleventh year as a tireless contributor in the local fashion industry.

On display at the East Atrium, East Wing of Shangri-la Plaza, the exhibit is open to the public from March 22 to March 31, 2019. The curated list of influential women included in the exhibit are beauty queen Gionna Cabrera; seasoned model and photographer Jo Ann Bitagcol; magazine editor-in-chief Liza Ilarde; Professional Models Association of the Philippines president Ana Sideco; restaurateur Alta Redor; fashion designer Kaye Morales; health enthusiast and business woman Ruby Gan; DJ Lady Trinity; seasoned actress Eula Valdez, fashion maven Lola Androgynous; magazine editor-in-chief Geolette Esguerra; veteran host, character actor; and philanthropist Tessie Tomas; singer-songwriter Nicole Asensio; educator Monina Tan-Santiago; and our very own, MEGA magazine Editor-in-Chief Peewee Reyes-Isidro.

Even global feminine icon, who is incidentally celebrating her 60th year, Barbie, was part of the fete as she was dressed and photographed to the nines. To make the exhibit more tactile and engaging, the actual garments used during the shoots are displayed by the mounted photos. Joining in on the fun are Shangri-la Plaza Rustan’s, Christopher Munar, Fleur Du Ciel, Crissa Jeans, Heaven By Deborah Mitchell, and Oro Gold, all coming together to honor the woman in all her grace and glory.

More than just the fun and fashion, however, this is really an effort that stirs the spirit of the woman and her allies. A definitive moment for movement, may this be a reminder that the celebration shouldn’t just start and end with this. If anything, this should spark something more, as it already has, giving the women a platform and a voice to be recognized for all that she is, was and will forever be to the world.
