In a blink of an eye, another New York Fashion Week has come and gone. But up until today, we can’t get enough of this season’s newest fashion trends.
We witnessed a gamut of bold and colorful choices making a powerful case for new suiting, prints, and fabrics to wear. So before we head on to the next fashion weeks, we dissect the top five fashion trends we spotted in NYFW for fall/winter 2019.
Zebra Prints
We all love the Kingdom Animalia. And by this time, it looks like animal prints need to be a part of our wardrobe—from leopard, cheetah, to snakeskin. But adding to the growing list of stunning prints is the Zebra. We witnessed such exquisite creations from Proenza Schouler, Maryam Nassir Zadeh, and Philip Lim.
Colorful Leather
We’ve all seen this trend last year but it’s making a comeback and designers took it up a notch this time involving vibrant hues. Leather has always been a necessity during fall and/or winter. So if you don’t like to be mediocre before autumn hits, it’s about time to invest in colored leathers. From Sies Marjan’s purple suit, Christian Cowan’s orange dress, to Ulla Johnson’s tangerine jacket, it’s not always a bad idea to add a bright-colored leather to your fall/winter wardrobe.
Cool Quilting
Not everyone’s a fan of puffed ensembles, which we understand because nobody wants to look like a Michelin man. But this season, several designers gave a stunning twist to quilting—from Rachel Comey’s dainty ensemble, Prabal Gurung’s colorful take, to Tory Burch’s feminine touch.
High Shine
Most galas and huge holiday occasions happen during fall and winter, so it’s always a must to stand out amongst the crowd. What better way to make heads turn to shine like the star that you are. Dominate the red carpet, gala, and the holidays taking inspiration from Cong Tri, Brandon Maxwell, and Alice + Olivia.
The Renaissance Woman
NYFW also transported everyone to the Renaissance era as designers highlighted beautiful, feminine pieces. But what makes this season special is the addition of modern twists to a classic aesthetic. Marc Jacobs created a black dress in an A-line silhouette complemented by huge puffed sleeves. Khaite punctuated a feminine tulle dress with a red velvet bishop sleeves, while Brock collection made a golden case accentuated by a Victorian collar.
