The signing to all three labels makes Filipino-American rapper Ez Mil the second artist, after 50 Cent, to accomplish this feat

Rapper Ez Mil, who is of Filipino and American descent, has announced his signing with major record labels Shady Records, Aftermath Entertainment, and Interscope Records, owned by Grammy winners Eminem and Dr. Dre. This young artist, who was born in Olongapo but now makes his home in Las Vegas, Nevada, has long dreamed of showcasing Filipino creativity to the world. A statement on the Shady Records website shares that Eminem was the one who discovered Ez Mil’s music online and brought him to Dr. Dre, thereby making the agreement possible.

“We’ve never been out there signing a lot of artists, and one of the great things about how we built Shady is how selective we’ve been,” Eminem stated. “And it’s even rarer that Dre and I sign something together—but I heard Ez’s music and was like, ‘This is really special, so I took it to Dre. We both agreed it would be a great fit, and we wanted to work with him right on the spot,’” the multi-awarded rapper added.

In addition, Dr. Dre has shared that after hearing Ez Mil’s music, he was convinced that signing him to one of their record labels was the best possible move. “I’m really only interested in working on shit that sounds different from anything else going on out there, and only then if I feel I can really bring something to it. Em played me Ez, and I had that feeling—that thing that happens when we both know we’ve found something special. And that was it. Let’s get to work,” he said.

This dynamic pair is well-respected not only for their musical prowess, but also for the opportunities they have provided to other artists on the rise. Considering that 50 Cent, one of the duo’s finest discoveries, has just celebrated two decades of working with them, we can safely say that the Filipino talent’s future is bright and exciting.

Ez Mil also announced the release of DU4LI7Y: REDUX, the deluxe edition of his 2022 LP, which is sure to excite his fans. The rapper said it will be released on August 11 and feature the song “Realest,” which boasts a collaboration with none other than the legendary Eminem himself.

It can be recalled that the artist’s song “Panalo (Trap Cariñosa)” gained widespread popularity in 2020. His efforts to compose a Pinoy pride hymn were praised by some, but others criticized him for making a false historical claim regarding Lapu-Lapu, which even caught the attention of the National Historical Commission of the Philippines. Ez Mil fully acknowledged the gravity of the situation at hand and extended an apology. In one of his interviews, he said, “I would say I’m not too outspoken about just saying anything and anyone’s name to get a reaction… Now that you’ve found your platform, you do have to be careful with how you say things because now, the kids are listening.”
