Filipina Actress Dons a Filipiniana to Different Barbie Premieres

Ana Cruz Kayne is proudly showcasing her Filipino roots by walking down the Barbie premiere carpets dressed in Filipinianas by designer Dennis Lustico

The Filipino-American actress, Ana Cruz Kayne, is no stranger to the film industry with her roles in Little Women and Anya, which were both released back in 2019. However for the live-action film, the 33-year old actress joined the diverse Barbie cast by playing the role of Supreme Court Justice Barbie—a role she’s very much in-tuned with based on her past performances.

At the movie’s LA premiere a few days ago, the actress made quite the noise on social media when she arrived at the pink carpet wearing a Filipiniana. She showed off her roots proudly and even did it for the second time as the cast flew to London for the big night.

Hollywood dream

A personal request from the actress herself, her all-pink terno was designed by none other than Dennis Lustico himself. It had two different shades of pink and the design had a playful finish to it since the bodice was decorated with embellishments and subtle checkered patterns. Meanwhile, the skirt had tassels hanging in three tiers that went down to the floor.

London calling

For this premiere, Dennis Lustico decided to go for a sweet and trendy look for Ana. Her terno was finished in a nude shade to intensify the multi-colored leaf appliqués that decorated the top. As for her skirt from The Mestizo LA, a Los Angeles-based clothing brand that offers various modern iterations of classic Filipino clothing, it had an elegant mermaid silhouette in a midi cut and was finished in a pastel pink hue to match the theme of the movie.

We’re also happy to see her wear a printed dress with butterfly sleeves in what seemed like a photoshoot with some of the cast, including Margot Robbie lookalike Emma Mackey and Alexandra Shipp.
