Filipino Celebrities as Different Barbies With Their Matching Movies and Style

Filipino Celebrities as Different Barbies With Their Matching Movies and Style

If our own Filipino actresses can be anything, then they can star in these Barbie movies based on their personalities and fashion sense

With its rich history for more than six decades, it is no surprise that our favorite doll has chosen the phrase, “You can be anything.” Astronaut, president, mermaid, fairy, vlogger—the list goes on for what the iconic toy has become.

This July 19, we finally witness Greta Gerwig’s vision of making Barbie into a live-action film. Though it features Margot Robbie as the main blonde figure, more versions of the beloved doll are in it, too. That makes us wonder, what if we have our very own actresses starring as Barbie in different movies as well?

MEGA Entertainment rounds up your favorite Filipino female stars based on their personalities and style, and here are some of our top picks and their corresponding movies.

Barbie Forteza for Barbie (2023)

World travel? Check. Fashion switch up? Check. Lovable charm and humor? Double check. Our very own Klay is the perfect counterpart for Robbie’s character since Forteza has already made a number of fantastical projects in her career. She is naturally funny but knows how to strike well in dramatic scenes, too. When it comes to her style, we’re definitely describing her as the Girly Girl Barbie. The actress embraces her femininity with sweet ensembles that accentuates her charming features.

Nadine Lustre for Barbie In a Mermaid Tale (2010)

The actress’ lifestyle change is a literal fresh start with nature elements gracing her Instagram feed and wardrobe. Since her move to Siargao, Nadine has raised the surfer-slash-beach girl aesthetic bar, and who else can be closer to playing a mermaid than her right now? Seeing that she’s more adventurous in her fashion, it’s only fitting to call her the Baddie Barbie. Her risque fashion that consists of daring combinations and edgy aesthetic shows how much she has grown in her fashion journey.

Anne Curtis for Barbie: Fairytopia (2005)

Our very own dyosa deserves a revival of her mythical roles, and with Anne’s timeless beauty, she is truly fit to play a fairy. Because of her captivating beauty we’ve all grown to love, best believe we’re calling her the Fae Barbie. Her style has a subtle enchanting vibe to it with her use of dainty pieces that truly matches her personality.

Heart Evangelista for Barbie: Fashion Fairytale (2010)

Heart Evangelista for Barbie: Fashion Fairytale (2010)

With a movie set in Paris and involving sartorial dreams, who can play this part better than our very own it-girl? Just by looking at the words “fashion” and “fairytale,” Heart is an easy pick. Since she’s living out the fashion world Barbie introduced us to when we were young, we’re definitely calling her Jetsetter Barbie. The fashionista doesn’t hesitate to try out new trends and has always been a step ahead when it comes to knowing all the latest when it comes to fashion.

Liza Soberano for Barbie: Big City, Big Dreams (2021)

The actress is fit for this movie with her recent career decision of packing her bags to start anew into the world. Just like the fighting spirit of the characters in the movie, Liza for sure can translate these emotions if she were to play Barbie. To honor her brave spirit, we’re calling her the Boss Babe Barbie. She’s doing things on her own terms and it manifests with her tailored ensembles and ultra-chic fashion she proudly displays in the States.

Kathryn Bernardo and Julia Montes for Barbie as Princess and the Pauper (2004)

Going back to this OG tandem, Kathryn and Julia are our top choice for this Barbiefied Mark Twain story. Their Mara Clara roots are a testament that they can team up for a powerful project. Seeing that two were the iconic pair in the entertainment industry back then, we’re calling them the Style Sister Barbies. Although the two had quite a contrasting style growing up, it’s their journey to honing their personal tastes that makes the relationship more special in our eyes.
