Get your screens ready for the lineup of both shows and films coming your way from the two biggest networks in the country

With the new year just a few days shy from officially starting, all forms of preparation to make 2023 bigger and brighter are already called to order. The same goes for the entertainment industry.

Last November and December, GMA and ABS-CBN, respectively, teased the roster of upcoming projects for 2023. From the comeback of some pairings to the plots of varying genres, we will surely look forward to the new year watching these Filipino movies and series:

Linlang

Multimedial Idol Kim Chiu will make her teleserye return next year with Linlang alongside versatile actors JM De Guzman, Paulo Avelino, and Ruby Ruiz. Diamond Star Maricel Soriano also joins the cast.

Based on the statements of the actors, the show will center on loyalty and unfaithfulness. Talking about her role, Kim said, “Ibang-iba talaga. It needs a lot of hard work.” Meanwhile, Maricel shared that her character will not do things “the normal way.”

Linlang is directed by Jojo Saguin and Manny Palo.

The Write One

Off-screen lovers Ruru Madrid and Bianca Umali will star in their first series together with The Write One, a romantic series with a hint of magic realism through an antique typewriter. Mikee Quintos and Paul Salas will also join the two in the show.

Ruru will also make a comeback as Lolong, with the series of the said name that premiered in July 2022.

Batang Quiapo

Coco Martin once again pays homage to the late Fernando Poe Jr. with Batang Quiapo, and it will be an adaptation of the late action king’s 1986 film. Lovi Poe, the daughter of FPJ, also joins the billing with Charo Santos and Christopher De Leon.

Drag You & Me

Giving more light to the drag culture in the Philippines, Drag You & Me centers on the realities of the LGBTQ+ community in the country. Of course, what’s a show about drag without the queens themselves? Xilhouette, Brigiding, Viñas Deluxe, and Drag Race PH winner Precious Paula Nicole are part of this project!

Andrea Brillantes, Jon Santos, Christian Bables, JC Alcantara, Kaladkaren will also star in the series by Dreamcape and iWanTFC. Drag You & Me is directed by JP Habac.

Zero Kilometers Away

Kyline Alcantara and Mavy Legaspi will lead GMA’s launching of their digital series starting with Zero Kilometers Away. According to the network’s content slate, the plot will revolve around modern dating, friendship, and romance.

After Forever

After the success of 2 Good 2 Be True, Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla will be back on the big screen with After Forever. The film, which was announced last February of 2020, will finally happen this 2023!

During the story conference with the actors, director Cathy Garcia-Molina, and producer Carmi Raymundo from three years ago, they will be shooting in San Francisco, California. The last project of KathNiel with Garcia-Molina was in 2018 with The Hows of Us

In her recent interviews, the director also revealed that she will be working with Bea Alonzo and John Lloyd Cruz for their reunion project, which has been confirmed by the actress in one of her vlogs.
