French fashion pillar Thierry Mugler served up iconic couture ‘fits from the past for beauty mogul Kylie Jenner

Much has been written about designer and fashion icon Thierry Mugler. However, there’s still something unique and captivating about his fashion legacy up to this day. It was his haute vision as a couturier that staged his career path to the forefront of extravagant and expressive fashion, having bent gender norms on the runway for his bold, theatrical, and often scandalous statement pieces.

While Mugler’s design was founded with the ideals of exaggeration, futurism, and powerful glamour, it is undeniable that his legacy stands the test of time, even after his passing in January of this year, showing relevance with each modern fashion trend. Continuously bringing the high-fashion story of the late designer to contemporary times is style icon Kylie Jenner. Below, we listed five of her best looks in Thierry Mugler’s classic designs.

A walking work of art

Kylie Jenner walked inside the Brooklyn Museum as a work of art who donned a Thierry Mugler vintage corset gown from the designer’s Fall-Winter 1995 to 1996 ready-to-wear collection. Her entire ensemble also consisted of a matching headdress designed with jewels and drop diamonds, and a pair of black fabric gloves with feather trims.

All webbed up

The Kylie Cosmetics founder did an outfit change for her museum walkthrough. Exhibiting sultriness in her ‘fit, Kylie wore a sheer bodysuit with printed web-like designs. She was able to balance the daring ensemble with modesty by layering it with a silk cape with black lining, pieces from Mugler’s Spring-Summer 1997 Les Insectes couture collection.

An award-worthy look

Kylie Jenner wore a 1999 Thierry Mugler piece at the 2022 CFDA Fashion Awards, making her one of the many standouts of the night. She flaunted her curves in the textured sheer bodice and velvet skirt of the one-shoulder dress. The dress was completed by a single glove in matching fabric and texture.

Lady in lace

From head to toe, the young mom of two donned another black Mugler couture made out of textured lace fabric. The garment has unique cut-outs that showed some skin on her arms and chest.

King Kobra

For Kylie’s Halloween look two years ago, she carried another iconic piece from the Mugler fashion house. It was a full snakeskin ensemble with a massive headdress, making her look like a King Cobra in human form, casually bringing back the King Kylie era in a more elevated manner.
