From the bridal gown to the setting, the wedding of Hidilyn Diaz and Julius Naranjo deserves a gold medal of its own.

The best kind of relationship is when you both lift each other up to reach greater heights. For the Olympic medalist and her coach-slash-now-husband, the lifting is figurative and literal. Last July 26, the weight of the wait was finally over for the couple as they finally tied the knot in Baguio City.

There is nothing better than a wedding that encapsulates the essence of the partnership and the love of two people now becoming one; and that was exactly what Hidilyn and Julius had in their union.

So, here’s the breakdown of the five things we love about the wedding of the golden couple:

The details of her bridal gown

Hidilyn is already a Olympic golden girl herself, but her wedding ensemble elevated her shining presence. She donned a Francis Libiran bespoke piece—a sweetheart neckline, off-shoulder number intricately adorned with crystals. The rose silhouette of the sleeves and the train was a sweet finish to the whole creation.

The memory of her bouquet

According to the renowned floral and event organizer Gideon Hermosa, the bouquet mimicked the weights the Olympic medalist had carried to bring pride and honor to the country—a lighter version, of course! The brocade was a dainty touch that matched the color of the orchids.

The authenticity of their prenuptial shoot

The couple had been through a lot not just as lovers but also as partners with big goals. The shoot by Mayad Studios was nothing short of breathtaking, portraying laughter and sports as big parts of their strong relationship. It’s also a testament that real love takes hard work.

The elegance of the event styling

Another creation by Gideon Hermosa, the varying white colorway of the Ecuadorian roses and carnations radiated the simple elegance that complements all the details of wedding. The flowers added a sense of serenity to the arched walkways and the church’s aisle.

The promise of the bands

The rings from Manila Diamond Studio are another kind of gold that Hidilyn and Julius will definitely treasure for the rest of their lives. While the groom’s band was a simple beveled one with a satin finish, the bride’s had a milgrain design with diamond details. But best part of these rings? The “Lift. Laugh. Love” engraving on them.
