Here’s a review of BEAR™, a skin-tightening device from FOREO: the Swedish expert in high-tech beauty and skin care essentials
Growing up with a round face, I was always worried about my cheeks looking a little puffier and my chin less angled. The idea of a more contoured appearance sounded very appealing to me. So, I was always on the lookout for the next slimming hack just so I could lose all the chubbiness in my face. I’ve tried lots of times to hide them behind a curtain of hair or a bag of makeup tricks, but I soon realized that these fixes can only do so much. I wanted long-lasting results, of course, minus the knives and needles.
Recently, I was given a chance to try out BEAR™ by FOREO Sweden—a microcurrent device that massages the face and promises to help me achieve a more sleek and elongated look in just a week. Did I get the results that I want? Is the device worth it? Read on to find out.
The presentation
As the name suggests, FOREO BEAR™ has the appearance of a bear’s face, with a silicon base in either fuchsia or mint green color, and two metallic spheres on top. It comes in a transparent acrylic packaging that displays a concise explanation of the product’s key specifications—namely, superior microcurrent stimulation, gentle T-Sonic™ pulsations, and Anti-Shock System™.
Each wireless FOREO BEAR™ device is accompanied by a user’s manual, a USB charging cable, a plastic stand, a gray fabric pouch, the FOREO SERUM SÉRUM SERUM in sample size, and a QR code to download the FOREO For You app.
The main event
During my first trial run with FOREO BEAR™, the app prompted me to apply the brand’s water-based serum, since it has the conductive formula that allows the device’s microcurrents to effectively flow into my skin. I was honestly hesitant at first. The idea of “electrifying” my face just did not sit well with me. But with research, I was able to learn that the device’s low-voltage electricity gently massages my facial muscles and mimics the natural energy production needed for toning the skin.
To finally get to the main event, I set my BEAR™ to the lowest microcurrent intensity level and followed the app’s animated tutorial, running the device outwardly along my jawline and cheekbone. I initially did just one side of my face, then paused to confirm if there would be any difference. There seemed to be. I thought my right cheek looked relatively slimmer, giving my jawline and cheekbone a slightly lifted look. Some people claim they don’t see noticeable changes until after a month’s worth of continued use, so results may actually vary. That said, I should probably consider that I’ve also been pretty consistent with my skin care routine to begin with.

I had at least two more facial sessions with BEAR™ and, in an attempt to get a more visible result, I adjusted the microcurrents to the next level. I also did my routine at my own pace and decided to focus more on contouring my cheeks. The difference became relatively more noticeable after my fifth run, compared to the first one that same week.
The verdict
The microcurrent facial workout is definitely a must-have step in my skincare regimen. The device is easy to use and, despite the tingly sensation, BEAR™ fulfills its promise to give me a more lifted cheekbone and sculpted jawline in just a week of use. Plus, knowing that I will no longer have to rely on hairstyles and makeup like I used to, boosted my confidence to finally flaunt my round face.
The only thing I’m not particularly amused about is how tense my facial muscles were afterwards—similar to when I’m clenching my teeth—but that’s probably because BEAR™ is literally giving my face a mini workout.
Overall, I won’t say it’s inexpensive since it’s a little over ₱20,000, but I just wish I had given microcurrent facial workout devices like FOREO BEAR™ a chance sooner.
