Are we are all going to see Gal Gadot as both Queen of the Nile, and the Evil Queen?
We’re going to see a lot of Gal Gadot in the coming months, and it will start with her movie with Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds in Red Notice just premiered, and will be released in Netflix this November 5. Yesterday, it was reported that Gal Gadot’s set to play another iconic role, and it will be a complete turn around from her superhero roots that skyrocketed her career. Gadot is in final talks to play the Evil Queen in Disney’s live-action adaptation of Snow White. Rachel Zegler is set to play the titular character, and the production is expected to start in 2022 with Marc Webb directing, and Marc Platt producing.
The original Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs cartoon, which was released in 1938 and was based on the Brothers Grimm fairytale, was Disney’s first animated feature and became a huge success for the studio. To get fans excited, the live-action film will go beyond the original story and music, according to insiders. One of the big reasons why it took a while to get the adaptation started was they made sure they get the music right. Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the Oscar- and Tony-winning duo behind La La Land, The Greatest Showman and Dear Evan Hansen, will write new songs for the movie, and insiders say the executives are excited with what Pasek and Paul have come up with.
From the get go, the casting for Snow White was long and thorough, but the studio executives always wanted Gadot for the role classic Disney villain. If all works out in the final step of negotiations, Gadot will be joining stars like Angelina Jolie and Cate Blanchett, who also played iconic villains from Disney.
Seems like Gadot will be fully booked until next year, since last year with Wonder Woman: 1984, Red Notice, and Cleopatra, where she will play the Queen of the Nile and is producing through her Pilot Wave Motion Pictures banner and developing with Paramount.
