The label was born due to two Filipina designers who have a combined passion for fashion and a great love for all things silk. “We just wanted to create a brand and design together. Then this just came up because I really wanted to do a line specializes on silk fabrics,” Silk and Stone’s co-founder Ange Dela Cruz says.
In addition, she mentions that the whole point of naming it “Silk and Stone” is because every single piece comes with your own crystal—energized by a Reiki healer—that comes in a small 100% silk pouch. While this may be, Ange clarified that they’re not adding crystals just to go with the sudden trend for spiritual wellness. “We did it because we really wanted to do it a bit differently by putting good energy into the pieces,” she explains.
So, for the first-ever collection that they debuted, they mostly focused on muted and neutral colors—from pearl white, taupe, to black. And since that’s the palette they’ve chosen for their first release, it was only logical for them to feature the crystal quartz.
According to Ange, “we picked this specific crystal because it’s a good first crystal. It gives you clarity and wards of negativity. And it charges good with your other crystals, making it a good first crystal if you’re only beginning [to collect].”
Now perhaps that’s why this brand is loved by a handful of celebrities already. Recently, we’ve spotted Marie Lozano during her vacation at the Club Med Cherating Beach in Malaysia wearing the Natalie Silk Trench.
And even if not at a beach, one can also wear it at a luxurious fête. A perfect example would be Lucy Torres-Gomez wearing the most-coveted gray halter slip dress during the exclusive Christmas party of Ben Chan held at his residence.
