It takes a certain balance of simplicity and glam to make something timeless—and the looks from Old Hollywood unquestionably mastered that. That is why until today, the trends during that time still live on.
Last Sunday at the GMA Thanksgiving Ball, these four names topped MEGA’s list of best-dressed—Marian Rivera, Kyline Alcantara, Alden Richards, and Dingdong Dantes. They carried their respective ensembles with much ease; but the reality is, it would always take a village of gore before the glory comes in.
Thanks to stylists Melville Sy, Maita Bello, Shark Tanael, Pat Pleno, and Vin Coriosa of Studio 24c, the trendy blasts from the past will still live on today and tomorrow. With that said, here’s how they made Old Hollywood Glam happen with these four celebrity looks—
Kyline Alcantara as the Sleek Sweetheart
If you need some lessons on how to give a contemporary take on the old Hollywood style, just take a look at Kyline’s ensemble.
The embellished detail across her chest was a playful take on the off-shoulder trend from the past. Matching it was the plunging sweetheart neckline and the serpentine silhouette of this David Koma creation.
One way to keep black from being boring was to bring texture, and it the stylists did it with the Steph Tan cape and Atsuko Kudo latex gloves.

Alden Richards as the Dapper Debonair
If there is something that could match Alden’s doe-eyed gaze and sweet smile, it’s definitely the velvet suit from Tom Ford. Besides its fit and form hugging the actor nicely, it was elevated by the other parts of Alden’s curated outfit for the evening—cuff links from Givenchy, watch from A. Lange & Söhne, and shoes from Christian Louboutin. Truly deserving of the Sparkle Male of the Night award!

Dingdong Dantes as the Compelling Character
Agent 007, is that you? Dindong’s look is a close copy of James Bond in his white Armani suit, black Tom Ford bowtie, and rose boutonniere. While most male attendees who opted for black suits, it’s good that Dindong stood out in white.

Marian Rivera as the Ravishing Rose
Shying away from the straight and figure-hugging cuts, Marian was in full bloom with her Ralph and Russo tulle, tiered ballgown. The pleated bodice still creates a sweetheart neckline, a classic design found in old Hollywood dresses.
In addition to this, the Rose Dior Bagatelle necklace and earrings were the perfect jewelry to complete the look for that full-on flora effect.
