It’s an early celebration for Gilas for this year’s Asian Games at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta, Indonesia today.
With the final score of 96-59, Team Philippines breezed through their first game in Men’s Basketball 5×5 versus Kazakhstan.
Although NBA star Jordan Clarkson is not yet in the game, Gilas puts up with the pressure.
Headed by coach Yeng Guiao, the national team started the game with an early 7-point lead in the first quarter. Stanley Pringle and Maverick Ahanmisi led the team in sending an early warning to the Kazakhs with grueling defense. On the other hand, James Yap, Beau Belga, and Chris Tiu carried on with the high note until the third quarter. Ultimately, Paul Lee triple threes in the final quarter completely crushed Kazakhstan finally closing the game. Pringle put up with an impressive team-high of 18 points with 4 rebounds, and 2 assists.
Cleveland Cavalier Jordan Clarkson debuts with Gilas on Tuesday, August 21, as Philippines battles head to head against China.
